Powers/Abilities: Man-Thing existed as a swamp-like creature that enveloped the entire planet Earth, with its roots in the shattered Nexus of All Realities.

History: (Marvel Knights Millennial Visions 2001 - "Shattered Nexus" (fb) - BTS) - Following the murder of Ted Sallis' "widow" Ellen Brandt at the hands of the demon Nightmare during what was later called the Dreamtide Rising (an event which Doctor Strange had some responsibility in which drove him down his own ruinous course), Sallis, who had been mutated into the swamp creature Man-Thing some time earlier, was left without the care and support of his long-time guide. Several others were brought in to replace Ellen Brandt's guiding force for the Man-Thing, who remained the Guardian of the Nexus of All Realities. The ever-changing guiding forces left Man-Thing extremely vulnerable to attack, a vulnerability that was taken advantage of by the enigmatic Mister Termineus, who destroyed the Nexus of All Realities. The Nexus' destruction reverberated throughout the Multiverse, destroying several realities, decimating others, leaving some uninhabitable and causing Man-Thing, who was at the center of the shattering Nexus, to grow and spread alongside his swamp at an accelerated rate, blanketing the entire planet and killing all non-swamp life despite the efforts of Earth's mightiest heroes. 

(Marvel Knights Millennial Visions 2001 - "Shattered Nexus") - His body expanded throughout Earth, Ted Sallis, his mind trapped within the mindless body of the Man-Thing, was forced to bear silent witness to the horrors encompassing the planet.
