History: (Marvel Knights Millennial Visions
2001 - "Nick Fury & the Outlaws of S.H.I.E.L.D." (fb) - BTS) - Made
up of the most feared lawmen in the West, Sheriff Nick Fury's
S.H.I.E.L.D. gunslinger group gained a reputation for allowing their
bullets do the talking when it came to aiding those they had sworn to
protect. As part of their protection, S.H.I.E.L.D. had never had a
target escape their guns until Dr. Wilson Fisk, the West's wealthiest
man, learned that the farmland where Nick Fury's family lived was rich
in gold ore. Building a dam that diverted irrigation waters from the
Fury's farm in an effort to get those living off the land to sell, Fisk
began having arsonists torch the homes of those who resisted selling,
including Nick Fury's family. After Fury's wife and son were killed in
such a fire, Fury buried them and his police badge, becoming an outlaw
in order to get to Fisk, who was rich enough to be beyond conventional
justice. His teammates in S.H.I.E.L.D. joining his crusade, Fury began
sabotaging Fisk's goldmines and robbing banks that held Fisk's money,
earning S.H.I.E.L.D. a new reputation and several bounties.

& the Outlaws of S.H.I.E.L.D.") - Keeping their whereabouts hidden,
S.H.I.E.L.D. continued sabotaging Wilson Fisk's efforts to mine gold,
leaving many to believe that any time Fisk's fortunes took a downward
turn, S.H.I.E.L.D. must be close.

While Nick Fury was the only S.H.I.E.L.D. member
identified in the story, Outlaw (Inez Temple) and Dum Dum Dugan appear
to be in the story's art, as well as an unidentified masked man.
