History: (Alpha Flight IV#1) - Alice Hu reported on Alpha Flight's rescue of civilians during a flood created by Attuma, who was attacking Canada as one of the Asgardian Serpent's Worthy. As she reported on how Alpha Flight had defeated Attuma before, Alice's news copter was hit by a blast fired by Attuma. Guardian saved Alice and the helicopter pilot while Alice ordered her falling cameraman, Dave, to keep shooting footage as Vindicator saved him. While Guardian lowered Alice to the ground, she began trying to interview him, first asking how Guardian felt about Northstar declining his offer to rejoin Alpha Flight then asking why Puck was not on the new team. Before Guardian could answer, Alice asked him personal questions about the ongoing legal dispute over custody of Guardian and Vindicator's daughter, prompting Vindicator to fly between Alice and Guardian a bit too roughly to cut off Alice's questioning. An annoyed Alice told Vindicator to watch it before being left behind by the flying Guardian and Vindicator. When Aurora arrived to assist Alpha Flight, Alice reported live on television of Aurora's arrival and remarked on the controversy surrounding Northstar's refusal to rejoin Alpha Flight. Watching Alice's report from his home, Northstar turned off the television when Alice began reciting poll statistics concerning the public opinion on Northstar.

(Alpha Flight IV#2) - Following the passage of the Emergencies Act by Canadian Prime Minister Gary Cody, Alice Hu was interrupted during a report at the Vancouver Red Cross Camp and ordered to come with a group of armed government agents who demanded her camera.

(Alpha Flight IV#4 (fb) - BTS) - Alice was placed among other prisoners, including intellectuals, other journalists and activists, that brainwashed Prime Minister Gary Cody thought might give him trouble.

(Alpha Flight IV#4) - A hood was placed over the head of Alice Hu and other prisoners and they were sent to a private AmCan property in Saskatchewan, where Alice was unmasked and told that she was no longer special. When Alice replied that she never thought she was, the guard told her that she couldn't sweet-talk her way out of her situation, as all prisoners were given a helmet and a robotic harness before they got to work. Upon looking down at what she would be working on, Alice was shocked to find that she would be forced to help strip mine a nature reserve. Given a "Groundhog" terraforming harness, Alice Hu reluctantly did as she was told until the renegade Alpha Flight arrived, having been tipped off to the prisoners by Northstar, who learned of the property by forcing the information out of a police officer. Guardian soon recognized the voice of Alice Hu and ordered her to get up to help but Alice, terrified by the situation she had been placed in, appeared wary. Guardian then reminded Alice and the other prisoners that they were captured because the corrupt government thought they were a threat and might stand up for themselves. Sufficiently swayed by Guardian's speech, Alice used her Groundhog harness (alongside several other prisoners) to fight back, joining Alpha Flight against the AmCan guards. Once the guards had been defeated and Walter Langkowski had gathered samples of the Groundhog harnesses, Alice accompanied Alpha Flight's revolution against the brainwashed Parliament and Guardian overrid Alice and the others' armors' boot jets so that he could help them join Alpha Flight in departing.

(Alpha Flight IV#5 (fb) - BTS) - Alice Hu and the others who rallied behind Alpha Flight were taken to Alpha Flight's secret base camp, where they were trained to fight by Puck's old ally, the Taskmaster.

(Alpha Flight IV#5) - Still wearing the Groundhog harness, Alice Hu used her Taskmaster training to sneak up on Guardian and knock him down, expressing joy in "knocking out" Guardian. Surprised to see Alice, Guardian (who was not actually knocked out) watched as Taskmaster reminded Alice that the only way he could train Hu and the others to fight was to keep reminding them that fighting was fun. Guardian then responded by blasting Alice down as Alice cheered with a hearty "wahoo!" Guardian then helped Alice to her feet and apologized for coming on too hard but Alice smiled and remarked that she could take it before goosing Guardian's behind.

(Alpha Flight IV#8) - During a battle between Alpha Flight and Alpha Strike at Alpha Flight's base camp, Alice asked Taskmaster if someone should be turning on the machine Alpha Flight had built to restore those brainwashed by the Master's Unity Program but Taskmaster reminded her that Guardian was very specific that they not reveal themselves until Guardian gave the signal. Shortly after, when the Master showed up personally, Guardian gave the signal and Taskmaster sent Alice and her fellow former prisoners against the Master's ship. Following the Master's defeat, Alice Hu broadcasted a news report on all channels to show how scientists were working to disarm the alien technology used to subjugate most of Canada and how General Hank Edmundson was cleaning up the remnants of the brainwashed Department H. Alice's report also announced that there was a cure for the Unity Program and that Scotty Gunderberg had been named the new Prime Minister of Canada following the death of Gary Cody at the Master's hands.

Despite first appearing in Alpha Flight IV#1, Alice Hu's first name was not revealed until Alpha Flight IV#2.

Alice's true height and weight were impossible to determine, as she was not seen next to any character whose height and weight had been officially given, except when she was in her Groundhog armor, which made her appear larger than normal.
