History: (Daredevil
I#95 (fb) – BTS) – Reporter for KGG-TV in San
Francisco, Lucretia Jones was weary of being assigned soft human
interest stories
on her beat.
(Daredevil I#95) – When editor Ben Caine assigned
Lucretia
to cover a jewelry store heist, she told Al she was shocked and assumed
it was
a mistake. She then rushed to the store, where she broadcasted a fight
between
Daredevil and Black Widow against Man-Bull and Itch, though Daredevil
was
swiftly defeated.
(Daredevil I#96) – Lucretia kept reporting as
Black Widow
battled Itch and Man-Bull, while others, including Freddie, recorded.
Lucretia
soon visited Daredevil in the hospital, where a man monstrously mutated
was wheeled in. While Lucretia reacted, Daredevil suddenly disappeared
through
the window.
(Daredevil I#105) – Lucretia rode with her
director, Ashley "Sandy" Sanderson, working with KSG-TV, and he worried
that she was getting too
involved in the Daredevil/Black Widow coverage.
(Daredevil I#106) – Lucretia and Sandy, hoping to
get
coverage of the Daredevil and Kraven battle, instead recorded Terrex
using the
ground and plants against civilians, killing a police officer by aging
him.
They joined with Lt. Paul Carson and Black Widow as Terrex left,
leaving the
ground dead around them. The group soon saw Daredevil return with new
ally
Moondragon and Lucretia and Sandy soon went running into the city to
record
the upcoming fight.
(Daredevil I#108) – Lucretia reported that "Foggy"
Nelson had
been shot by a sniper in New York City.
Comments: Created by Gerry Conway, Gene Colan and Tom Palmer.
Lucretia was most certainly (and mistakenly) white in her first appearance, and then black in her second appearance. We can perhaps blame it on the lighting in issue 95? Then, in 108, she appears white on television… maybe we can blame this one on bad reception. She is definitely a black woman.Profile by Chadman.
