History:
(Ka-Zar
the Savage#2 (fb) - BTS) - Sep of the Aerians made an arrangement with Khalf, king of the
Pterons, to have Leanne "kidnapped" and escorted to a remote part of
Pangea so she could escape her puppet ruler role in Zarhan and so they could share a romance.
Khalf apparently bargained with Sep to betray the Aerians.
(Ka-Zar
the Savage#2 (fb) - BTS) - Pterons abducted Leanne, seemingly slaying
Sep (who was brought to Athmeth along with Leanne).
(Ka-Zar the Savage I#2 - BTS) - M'Dom Typ, leader of the Aerians, learned of the Pterons' assault and Leanne's abduction; he convinced Ka-Zar and Shanna to aid in mounting a rescue mission.
(Ka-Zar the Savage I#2 - BTS) - With the location of an ancient Athmeth trip device having recently been discovered and detonator device constructed to activate it, Ka-Zar and Shanna sneaked into the secret back entrance of Athmeth.(Ka-Zar the Savage I#2) - From his throne within a large caven (and witnessed by Ka-Zar and Shanna), Khalf told his subordinates to prepare the pack animals and Leanne's retinue so they could leave within the hour, and to escort Leanne to her chamber.
(Ka-Zar the Savage I#2 - BTS) - Sending Shanna to set the trigger mechanism, Ka-Zar traveled to Leanne's chamber.
(Ka-Zar the Savage I#2 (fb) - BTS) - Sep apparently met with Khalf and arranged to betray Leanne as well.
(Ka-Zar the Savage I#2) - Khalf, joined by Sep and several Pterons, interrupted Ka-Zar and Leanne, revealing that Sep had betrayed both the Aerians and Leanne in exchange for "a few paltry riches."
Further noting that he never would have allowed Leanne or Sep would to have left the cavern alive, Khalf ordered the Pteron guards to seize Ka-Zar and Shanna.
As Ka-Zar furiously attacked the Pterons, M'Dom Typ's forces alongside Zabu then rushed through Athmeth's main entrance, and a savage battle ensued.
Furious after learning of a budding romance between Ka-Zar and Leanne, Shanna slew Khalf, after which the destruct mechanism went off, and Athmeth began to collapse.
Prepared for this, the Aerians, Ka-Zar, Shanna, and Zabu all escaped, but most Pterons were trapped or crushed.
