History:
(Spidey Super Stories#53/5 (fb)) - The scientist who
would become Meteor Man broke open a meteor and the gas inside gave him
super-strength. But the effect wore off and so he hunted more
extraterrestrial rock specimens to loot.
(Spidey Super Stories#53/5) - Meteor Man raided an
exhibition showcasing moon rocks retrieved by astronaut John Jameson.
Meteor Man knocked back John Jameson while the newly arrived Spider-Man
reinforced the collapsing ceiling caused by Meteor Man's violent
escape. Spider-Man admitted he didn't know how to stop the crook when
the Cat arrived and revealed Meteor Man's secret origin and fixation.
Daily Bugle newspaper editor J. Jonah Jameson helped the heroes' plan
by publishing a lie that the largest meteor (actually a booby-trapped
fake) had been found. Meteor Man took the bait and attacked. The
villain's enhanced strength allowed him to fling the Cat aside and rip
through Spidey's webbing. He used a device to crack open the giant
"meteor", which instead released sneezing powder. Spider-Man then
enveloped the distracted Meteor Man in webbing. Spider-Man dismissed
the thief's defiant cry to eventually procure more space rocks.
Comments: Created by Steven Grant (writer), Win Mortimer (pencils), Ricardo Villamonte (inks).
Meteor Man appears to be the Earth-57780 version of Earth-616's Looter (Norton Fester), who used "Meteor Man" as an early alias.
Physical stats are taken from the Earth-616 version (Looter),
as they look very much alike.
