History: (Heroes for Hire II#2 (fb)) - Over eighty years ago, Mister Qui was one of ten Chosen Ones who climbed China's Xian Ghost Mountain to steal the Pixiu egg. Out of the ten, he was the only one to survive.
(Heroes for Hire II#2) - After housing the Pixiu in the basement of his wholesale martial arts store front, Mister
Qui was contacted by the Heroes for Hire when technology and Humbug's
"insect intel" proved unable to locate the renegade Captain America.
Allowing the Heroes for Hire to commune with the Pixiu, Mister Qui
offered to help in any way and commended both Humbug and Paladin for
their curiosity. He then led the group to the Pixiu, where the Heroes
for Hire offered the Pixiu gold in exchange for mystically locating
Captain America.
Comments: Created by Justin Gray, Jimmy Palmiotti, Billy Tucci, Francis Portela and Tom Palmer.
Due to the sliding time scale and depending on how old Mister Qui was when he stole the Pixiu egg, Mister Qui would have been active since around the late 1920s or early 1930s.
It was not shown whether Mister Qui possessed mystic
powers of his own but the Pixiu was contained within a mystic circle,
suggesting that either Mister Qui or someone close to him had mystic
powers to create the containing circle. Mystic abilities might also
explain how Mister Qui could survive for as long as he had.
