History:
(Avengers I#191) - Margot Neil was surprised by the arrival of the Grey
Gargoyle who, while being chased by the Avengers, decided to return home
and use his chemicals to replenish his strength. He was equally
surprised to find Margot in the apartment and stopped her from running
out by turning her front door to stone. He then explained his origins
and purpose for being there, while heading for the supplies he had
hidden behind the mirror. To his shock and dismay, he discovered Neil
had thrown "that smelly stuff" out, putting in a wet bar instead. The
furious villain was about to assault her, but was stopped by the
Falcon and Redwing who had been trailing the Gargoyle ever since he
fled the scene of the battle. Falcon first made sure Margot was
relatively safe underneath a table before engaging his far superior foe.
(Avengers I#191 (fb) - BTS) - When the Grey Gargoyle (Paul Duval) moved
to New York to continue his criminal career there, he rented an
apartment in one of the city's many highrises. He kept all his chemicals
and supplies there while he prepared for his next move. However, when
the Gargoyle disappeared for several months, his landlord decided to
look for a new tenant and offered the place to Margot Neil. She happily
moved in, redecorated, cleared out all of Duval's belongings including
his chemical supplies and made the place her own.
(Avengers I#191 - BTS) - With Margot away, Falcon pressed the attack but
found he was out of his league. The Gargoyle even petrified Redwing
before the bird could fly off and signal the other Avengers. However,
the team soon caught up with Falcon anyway and, through teamwork,
managed to defeat the Grey Gargoyle, trashing Neil's apartment in the
process.
(Avengers I#191) - When the dust had settled, the slightly shaken Margot
came out from under the table, examined the devastation and wondered if
one of the heroes would mind explaining all this to her landlord.
Comments: Created by David Michelinie (writer), John Byrne (pencils), Dan Green (inks).
During his Avengers days, David Michelinie had the tendency to name bit players and bystanders. A cute, innocent touch and if nothing else, it makes them seem more real.
