History:

(Deadly Hands of Kung Fu I#32 (fb) - BTS) - Born into a noble Japanese
samurai family, Osama and his brother Kenji were raised to be the
daimyo, the feudal lords of their house. Osama and Kenji both lost their
sons during World War II (see comments), only his niece Azumi
survived who bore a child with the American scholar Lee Wing. He was
around when young Colleen grew up with Kenji in the mountainous region
of Japan's Honshu island. Despite the fact he was left lame following an
unspecified incident, Osama rose to prominence as a diplomat, high level
government official and eventually as his brother's successor as head of
        the Japanese secret police.
(Deadly Hands of Kung Fu I#32) - After his brother Kenji was murdered by agents of crimelord Emil Vachon, Osama summoned Colleen Wing to Japan. She arrived in the company of her friend Misty Knight to attend the funeral services for Kenji. Afterwards, Osama filled his grandniece in about the true cause of death. Calling on her sense of family and obligation, Osama tasked her to avenge Kenji's death. He couldn't involve the secret service because this was at heart a family matter. Colleen accepted the task and, along with Misty, set off to take out Vachon.
(Uncanny X-Men I#118 (fb) - BTS) - When Moses Magnum tried
to blackmail the island nation of Japan by threatening to sink it using
his seismic powers, he sent a communique announcing he would attack the
harbor city Agarashima at 8.00 hours. Osama, Misty Knight, Colleen Wing
and members of the Japanese secret service quickly set up a command base
at Yoshida manor. There they monitored the imminent quakes that caused
        great damage across the city.

(Uncanny X-Men I#118) - The X-Men happened to arrive at Agarashima at
the time of the quake. Figuring they might get some help from their one
time teammate Sunfire (Shiro Yoshida) they went to Yashida Manor. There,
they were met by Misty Knight who took them to meet Osama who filled
them in. Despite Sunfire's arrogant boasting he could keep Nippon safe
without outside help, Osama accepted the X-Men's offer to help deal with
Moses Magnum. Some time later, Magnum targeted Yashida Manor with a
quake, levelling the palace. He then sent in Mandroids to kidnap Osama
and the other government officials. Colossus kept Osama from getting
crushed, while the X-Men and Sunfire made short work of the Mandroids.
Later, Osama witnessed how from one of the armors a holographic image of
Moses Magnum emerged to offer an ultimatum: if he wasn't made ruler of
Japan within the next 24 hours, he would sink the entire country.

        (Uncanny X-Men I#119 (fb) - BTS) - Taking Magnum's ultimatum seriously
but refusing to even consider giving in, the emperor and prime minister
of Japan ordered Osama to stop him.

      (Uncanny X-Men I#119 (fb) ) - Osama briefed the X-Men and
Sunfire on Moses Magnum, telling them about the villain's status as arms
dealer to the world, describing him as brilliant, strong and ruthless.
He also gave out detailed information on Magnum's base, located in the
Kuril Islands. Using this information, the mutants planned a stealthy
surgical strike before the deadline passed and the Magnum Force would
        destroy Japan.

(Uncanny X-Men I#120) - After the X-Men succeeded in saving Japan from
Magnum, they managed to catch a ride back to the United States on lawyer
Jeryn Hogarth's custom built DC-10. A grateful Osama came to see them
off at the airport, along with Sunfire and Mariko Yashida.

Comments: Created by Chris Claremont (writer),
        Marshall Rogers (pencils & inks)

A minor character that was mostly used to deliver exposition or to help
the story along. He hasn't been seen since 1979 which is a little odd
considering Claremont usually finds ways to keep characters like Osama
in the loop. Especially his job as head of the Japanese secret service
would have been an ideal springboard for stories. Ah well...
