Powers/Abilities: Lord Parnival Plunder was an engineering genius, capable of building submarines, including one ship that could disguise itself as a pirate schooner and transform into a submarine that could travel thousands of miles in minutes; it was at times equipped with a Force-Ray Cannon, Vaccuum Ejector-Tubes and anti-magnetic shields. He also had a smaller pocket-submarine equipped with a magno-viewer screen and a twin-ray cannon. Parnival had also commanded entire fleets of ships.

With access to vast offensive weaponry, Parnival was an expert in hand-to-hand combat, frequently using guns, fists, axes and swords. Parnival once used sleeping potions on his crew. Parnival used his father's Plunderstone to power up a Vibra-Ray, a gun capable of destroying anything metal, and he later designed a larger Vibra-Cannon; he also invented guns that were immune to the ray, made of plastic. Plunderer has used nerve bolt ray guns, electron beams, energy ring constraints, compressed air guns, “Plunder Rays” and a Vibranium Neutralizer (that would cancel the effects of the Anti-Metal), and he had Plunder Castle equipped with a moat (into which oil could be poured) and ignito-guns (which projected fiery missiles). After suffering frostbite, Parnival was upgraded with several cybernetic prosthetics, including his left eye, but their full capabilities were unrevealed. Over time, he developed a vast fortune in real estate, establishing a headquarters in New York. Parnival had special mech-suits called Plunder-Bots commissioned, with advanced shielding, super-strength and offensive weaponry, as well as a mobile force shield that he called his Plunder-Ball. Plunderer speaks the dialects of some of the Savage Land tribes, notably the Karem. For a time, Plunderer's personality was inverted, causing him to want to rob from the rich and give to the poor.

Height: 6'2"
Weight: 215 lbs.

Hair: Grey

History:
(Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe I#8 - BTS) - Lord Robert and Lady Blanche Plunder lived in London in Plunder Castle. They had two heirs, older son Kevin and younger son, Edgar Parnival.

(Ka-Zar III#8 (fb) – BTS) – As young children, Kevin and Parnival Plunder played together.

(Daredevil I#13 (fb)) – A renowned explorer, Lord Robert Plunder returned from a trip with a slag of undiscovered ore. When he struck it with a mallet, it shattered the metal in his hand and the metal in his lab around him did the same. Lord Plunder spent months experimenting on the ore, realizing it could knock planes from the sky or destroy tanks from miles away. He eventually locked it in a stone tomb, creating a medallion from the ore that could open the tomb and he gave half of the medallion to each of his sons, Kevin and Parnival.

(Astonishing Tales I#11 (fb)) – Upon his return from the Savage Land, Robert Plunder's wife passed away. He told his sons about the medallion and the special ore, which he'd spent ten years searching for; giving them their halves, Robert told the boys they must always be friends. When Spasky and another tried robbing Robert, Kevin and Willis, the butler, drew a gun but Parnival hid, cowering even after they left.

(Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe I#8 - BTS) – Robert had discovered not only the Anti-Metal but the Savage Land itself and he'd left clues behind for his sons to find it, disguised in code.

(Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A-Z Update I#1 – BTS) – Lady Blanche was revealed to have been murdered by Robert's enemies, spies who coveted his discoveries.

(Daredevil I#13 (fb)) - In time, enemy agents learned of the ore and went after Lord Plunder.

(Ka-Zar I#-1 (fb)) – Robert decided to separate his sons in their upbringings. Keeping Kevin for himself, he sent Parnival to New York City with Willis.

(Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe I#8 – BTS) – Willis, an ex-seaman, took Parnival to sea first, teaching him the trade, and they successfully evaded the family enemies. Willis spent the next years teaching Parnival how to swindle and deceive, and Parnival grew to love it.

(Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A-Z Update I#1 – BTS) – Willis' first name was revealed as Fenton, and he was an ex-Royal Navy rating. Parnival enjoyed watching Willis use violence.

(Astonishing Tales I#11 (fb) – BTS) – In the Savage Land, Robert was killed by Maa-Gor and his men, leaving Kevin to fend for himself. Kevin, in time, became Ka-Zar, living with his closest friend, Zabu.

(Daredevil I#-1 (fb)) – With the money from Lord Plunder cut off, Willis confessed to Parnival that they were poor, and he stated that Robert didn't love Parnival, that he'd chosen Kevin over him. Parnival took a job at the grocery store, working for Mr. Kilmer, even as Willis hoarded money, planting ideas that Parnival needed to get his brother's half of the medallion. Soon, Parnival, now dressed in fine robes, exposed Willis and had his thug Lenny beat up Willis, then he promised to kill Willis if he ever saw him again.

(Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe I#8 – BTS) – Parnival gained access to some of the family fortunes, and he used them to bribe off the right officials to allow him to return back home and claim the family estate. There, he continued his formal education.

(Civil War: Battle Damage Report I#1 (fb) – BTS) – Parnival received advanced degrees in engineering.

(Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe I#8 – BTS) – Parnival became a respected engineer and scientist and was known as a respectable lord. He began reviewing his father's notes, planning on returning to the Savage Land once he could crack the code revealing its location, which he eventually did.

(Daredevil I#12 (fb) – BTS) – Despite his title, wealth and riches, Parnival was mocked for his revolutionary ideas in engineering ships, so Parnival left his family behind to pursue a life of piracy. Using his brilliant mind and engineering skills, he designed a state-of-the-art submarine with offensive weaponry, one that could appear on the surface as a pirate schooner. He assembled a group of men, impressing them with his superior fighting skills and he soon developed an international reputation as the Plunderer or Captain Plunder. On one adventure, while looking for Atlantis, he and his men found an undersea passage below Antarctica, extending thousands of miles and into the Savage Land, where they found Skull Island.

(Daredevil I#12) – The Plunderer and his men, armed with laser guns while talking like old-timey pirates, held up the cruise ship Odyssey but Parnival gave up thoughts of riches when he saw Daredevil aboard, impressed by the hero's skills and carelessness. After threatening the ship's crew to convince DD to surrender, Parnival let the Odyssey go, taking Daredevil aboard his ship, hoping to convince the hero to join his crew. To impress him, Parnival took Daredevil to Skull Island but they found it under siege by the Swamp-Men. Parnival and his crew attacked, fighting Ka-Zar and Zabu as well. Ka-Zar deflected one of Parnival's blasts and it caused an explosion aboard the ship, which then detonated much of Parnival's weaponry.

(Daredevil I#13) – Hearing Ka-Zar's victory cries from far away, Plunderer gathered his men, including Slagg, in the jungle and threatened them into submission. Carrying the only working gun, Parnival soon found Daredevil battling Maa-Gor and Plunderer shot him. Finding Daredevil now blind, Plunderer admitted aloud that Ka-Zar was his brother. Plunderer soon saw Zabu apprehended then he pulled out his half of the medallion, with Ka-Zar soon revealing the other half, realizing that Parnival was his brother. Using the distraction, Plunderer trapped Ka-Zar in a cage then loaded him in the ship and taking Daredevil along with the crew, they headed back to England. Soon, Parnival took the men to his family castle, where he put them to sleep by drugging their drinks; he then (now wearing a green suit with cape) ordered Daredevil to try and gain Ka-Zar's trust. After revealing the truth behind the medallion, Parnival pushed DD down into the dungeon with Ka-Zar, thinking DD blind, but DD escaped and knocked Parnival out, freeing Ka-Zar. Parnival's men Slagg and Feepers turned on the heroes, wanting the medallion for themselves, but they escaped. Plunderer awoke to find Slagg dead and he called the police, not knowing Feepers had activated a spy network against the heroes.

(Daredevil I#14) – At his castle, Parnival confronted his butler, Waylon Feepers, having realized he was a spy all along but Feepers denied it until Boswell, a spy, arrived with the other half of the medallion, stolen from Ka-Zar. Boswell fired at Parnival, who dodged and the bullet hit Feepers, then Parnival knocked out Boswell and stole the medallion. With the full medallion now in his possession, Parnival saw Daredevil attack; he grabbed an axe to fight but it disintegrated because of the medallion then the police arrived to arrest Ka-Zar. Parnival ordered them to arrest DD as well, trapping him inside with triggered iron bars in the castle; Daredevil escaped anyway and Ka-Zar was taken to jail. Parnival opened up the stone tomb, finding the special ore inside. Calling it the Plunderstone, Parnival used his engineering skills to power a Vibra-Ray capable of destroying metal, then he devised himself a light blue super-villain costume, determined to go after Daredevil. Plunderer costumed his crew like him and, calling them his military officers, gave them guns he designed that were immune to his ray. Not realizing that Daredevil had replaced one of his men, Plunderer led his troops aboard the submarine and soon attacked an early-warning missile base in the North Atlantic, destroying weapons raised against them before conquering the base. When Plunderer announced he would use missiles against other forces, Daredevil revealed himself, fighting the army. DD soon realized that Plunderer's immune weapons were made of plastic, and he revealed it to the military before defeating Plunderer and turning him over to General Cartright. Plunderer confessed that Ka-Zar was innocent of murder.

(Daredevil I#24 (fb) – BTS) – Plunderer escaped from prison. From his submarine base, Plunderer committed a series of robberies in England, leaving tire tracks, tiger foot prints and barefoot footprints at the scene so the police would blame Ka-Zar, who was still stationed in the Plunder castle. The newspapers called the thief the Midnight Stalker.

(Daredevil I#24) – Daredevil and Ka-Zar found Plunderer in his submarine and attacked. Plunderer unleashed his new Nerve Bolt Ray, yelling how he wanted Plunder Castle and his inheritance back, but the heroes swiftly defeated him and his men, exposing him to the police.

(Tales to Astonish I#95/2 (fb) – BTS) – Plunderer escaped from jail again and returned to the ocean in his submarine, equipping Tyson and other men. Hearing about the new underwater Dome-City set up by Dr. Walter Newell, he decided to attack.

(Tales to Astonish I#95/2) – Plunderer and Tyson announced themselves to Dome-City, demanding entrance. Newell fought back so Plunderer fired the ship's force-ray cannon at him, accidentally cracking the dome over the city, sending the civilians scrambling. When Plunderer fired on the escape crafts of the city's civilians, Sub-Mariner attacked. Plunderer brought Namor aboard his ship then Plunderer fired his Vibra-Ray gun after getting punched, soon ejecting Namor through a Vaccuum Ejector-Tube. As Tyson and the others pursued Dorma, Newell narrowly saved her. Plunderer then further destroyed the city and looted it with his ship, planning on using the equipment to bolster his base on Skull Island. Plunderer then gathered his men and departed, unaware that Namor was following.

(Tales to Astonish I#96/1) – With his men, including Logar, Plunderer made his base on Skull Island, where he designed a large Vibra-Cannon. Plunderer heard alarm bells and saw on his cameras that Namor was fighting a giant purple sea monster, the Saurian. Plunderer's men hit both Namor and Dorma (who had followed him) with an electron beam but Namor attacked anew striking Plunderer before he was waylaid by the Vibra-Ray. Dorma escaped as Namor was held captive in energy rings.

(Tales to Astonish I#97/2) – On Skull Island, with Sub-Mariner captive, Plunderer had Logar and the others return to their stations. Bragging about his origins and demonstrating his weapons, Plunderer hoped to win Namor over as an ally, promising to kill him if he refused. Outside, the Swamp-People attacked, accidentally freeing Namor, who turned on Plunderer. With his gun jammed, Plunderer begged for mercy, used a compressed air gun and was finally restrained by Namor. The Swamp-Men turned on Namor, allowing Plunderer and his men to escape the burning island. Equipped with Vibra-Ray guns, Plunderer planned conquest for his men, beginning with Atlantis.

(Tales to Astonish I#98) – Aboard his submarine, Plunderer, with Logar, scoured the remains of old Atlantis, doing research on how to destroy the modern city. Finding Atlantis itself, Plunderer learned that Namor was alive and that the Atlanteans assumed Namor was a traitor working with the Plunderer, canceling Parnival's plans to claim he had Namor captive. The submarine fired the Vibra-Ray Gun, destroying a building. The Atlanteans fired back but the submarine was protected with anti-magnetic shields. Humans at the surface level assumed the Atlanteans were declaring war and they fired back, which caused Namor to think the humans were declaring war themselves. The return fire damaged the submarine, which began flooding, and Parnival took an escape craft, abandoning his men. Aboard his pocket-sub, equipped with a magno-viewer screen and a twin-ray cannon. Namor attacked but was soon distracted by the wider battle and Plunderer escaped.

(Marvel Super-Heroes I#19/1 (fb) - BTS) – Plunderer was placed into an American prison for a time but he was paroled out. Forming a bond with Nuba, a traitor of the Golden-People Tribe, he planned to get access to the anti-metal in their lands to build ever greater weapons.

(Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A-Z Update I#1 – BTS) – Parnival returned to his castle and somehow allied with Ka-Zar. They began living together, along with Zabu, though they frequently fought.

(Marvel Super-Heroes I#19/1 (fb) – BTS) – Parnival tried to get Ka-Zar's half of the medallion again by convincing Ka-Zar that Robert Plunder was a villain all along. Ka-Zar renounced his inheritance, placing Parnival back as the head of Plunder Castle.

(Marvel Super-Heroes I#19/1) – When Ka-Zar and Zabu intervened in a classic fox hunt, putting the lovely Vanessa Marlowe in danger, Parnival (going by his first name Edgar) was furious and, hitting Ka-Zar with a riding crop, ordered his brother back to the Savage Land. Later, Parnival had dinner with Vanessa and her father Mr. Marlowe, an old friend of Robert's; when Ka-Zar showed up, Parnival threw his drink in his brother's face and Ka-Zar threw a punch back. Parnival kept trying to convince Ka-Zar that Robert was evil but Ka-Zar still refused to give up his medallion half. Ka-Zar soon spied on Parnival meeting with Nuba and other criminals but Parnival turned his guards against Ka-Zar, throwing oil into the moat and firing fiery missiles from the ignito-guns. Ka-Zar and Zabu returned to the Savage Land and Parnival pursued with his men, fighting the Golden People upon arrival. When Mr. Marlowe was killed in the Savage Land, he left a written note to Ka-Zar, telling him that Robert was innocent but Parnival stamped it out before it could be seen.

(Astonishing Tales I#18 (fb) – BTS) – Forced to return to piracy, Plunderer, now in a green suit with purple cape, went back to the Savage Land, where he witnessed Spider-Man defeat the monster Gog in quicksand. Plunderer saved Gog, who proved loyal to Plunderer, forming a bond with him and obeying all of his commands.

(Astonishing Tales I#17) – As Ka-Zar fell to Earth from the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier battling Gemini (Joshua/Damian Link), a vial of the new Super-Soldier Serum fell into the Plunderer's hand. He loudly announced his presence and was flanked by Gog.

(Astonishing Tales I#18) – After watching Ka-Zar battle Gemini, Plunderer ordered Gog to seize his brother but Agent Bobbi Morse of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Zabu then attacked. Plunderer formed an alliance with Gemini, refused the offer of a bribe from Morse then ordered Gog to teleport them to A.I.M.'s England headquarters but Gog instead transported them to the Statue of Liberty, doubled in size and broke free of Plunderer's control. Gog pulled the Statue down on the group, then teleported away. Morse seized the dropped serum as Ka-Zar punched Plunderer down then Plunderer and Gemini managed to escape.

(Astonishing Tales I#19) – Plunderer and Gemini teamed up with Victorius (Dr. Victor Conrad), a former A.I.M. agent who had been transformed by a Super-Soldier Serum derivative. They convinced Victorius to kidnap Bobbi Morse, evaded Ka-Zar in a helicopter then went to the A.I.M. base. When Ka-Zar attacked, Plunderer, frustrated by Victorius having taken command, fought his brother but Ka-Zar easily knocked him unconscious.

(Astonishing Tales I#20) – When Plunderer sought to escape, Zabu stopped him, knocking him out again.

(Fantastic Four I#191) – When the Fantastic Four temporarily broke up, Mr. Fantastic asked S.H.I.E.L.D. to take in some of their sensitive equipment. Plunderer, posing as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Parnival, arrived at the Baxter Building with his agents. Parnival kept trying to rush the heroes out but the landlord, Walter Collins, delayed them. When Parnival's man Jackson dropped something, Mr. Fantastic became suspicious and the men attacked him but the hero fired a flare to summon his team. Plunderer donned his new white-and-blue costume and shot Mr. Fantastic with an energy gun then the Fantastic Four attacked. Parnival's men used asbestos sheets, paralysis-rays and sonic disruptor cannons but the heroes easily defeated the villains.

(Rom I#13 (fb) – BTS) – Plunderer was placed in a maximum security S.H.I.E.L.D. prison but he escaped months later and began plotting again.

(Rom I#13) – Aboard a hydro-foil, Plunderer and his crew arrived at Cape Hatteras, a seaside town, after stealing 15 pleasure boats with their crews. Rom the Spaceknight attacked, freeing the civilians and fighting Plunderer (in blue-and-white) and his men, who were equipped with Vibra-Ray gun and a Vibra-Ray Cannon. Plunderer confessed his plans to build a wooden fleet to carry Anti-Vibranium. The former kidnapped victims turned on Plunderer as the Coast Guard moved in and Plunderer tried to escape but was stopped by Rom; when Plunderer fired his Vibra-Ray gun at Rom, turbulence caused him to hit the engine and both villain and hero were washed over the side.

(Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe I#8 – BTS) – Plunderer at some point faced the Hulk in battle. After his fight with Rom, he decided to become a solo adventurer. He was unable to return to Castle Plunder due to his fugitive status.

(Ka-Zar the Savage I#32 (fb) – BTS) – When the police believed Ka-Zar to be dead, they had Parnival identify his body. Parnival had burnt through his fortunes. Realizing he was out of Anti-Metal (his father's supply having run out), Parnival took an icebreaker ship back to the Savage Land to find more.

(Ka-Zar the Savage I#31) – Out of costume, Parnival Plunder rode his ship past Antarctica, set on returning to the Savage Land.

(Ka-Zar I#32) – In the Savage Land, Parnival ran into some tribesmen (the Karem People, led by Beel) with spears; after unsuccessfully seeking to bribe them with a gold watch and a video game, Parnival fled into the bushes, soon winning over some allies including Vikor by mentioning Ka-Zar and Anti-Metal. After a week of being served by the Karem, Parnival lost patience and went to Ka-Zar's treehouse home, where his brother punched him as Parnival stated that he was shocked to see Ka-Zar alive. Parnival asked to stay with Ka-Zar there while he recuperated then met Ka-Zar's new wife, Shanna O’Hara (Shanna the She-Devil), and Shanna took pity on Parnival, getting Kevin to agree to let Parnival stay and making him responsible for keeping up the grounds. Things progressed nicely over the following few weeks and Parnival learned the language of the Karem. Vikor and his allies beat up Beel, who gave them the location of the Anti-Metal. As Parnival laughed about childhood memories with Shanna, Vikor called Parnival over, calling him “Plunda," and gave him a piece of Anti-Metal.

(Ka-Zar I#33) – Parnival was furious when he found that the Anti-Vibranium mining operation had caved in. Parnival kept manipulating Shanna and Ka-Zar while the natives found the mystical Motyka Bone. Ka-Zar and Shanna investigated, finding the active mines. Parnival hid in a tree until Ka-Zar knocked him down but he had a raft, stacked with anti-metal, prepared and escaped by taking Shanna hostage at gunpoint. Zabu scratched Parnival's shoulder but he took the raft out of the Savage Land and into the Antarctic to his icebreaker ship, though he found Ka-Zar (in a parka) waiting for him. The men on the ship opened fire on the heroes until Zabu scared them off then Ka-Zar attacked Parnival aboard the ship. Seeing that Shanna was in danger, Parnival surprised himself by leaping to her defense, rescuing her from being shot, but he in turn was knocked over the side of the boat and lost beneath the ice, believed dead.

(Ka-Zar III#4 (fb) – BTS) – Realizing he was believed dead because one of his men had fallen beneath the ice, Parnival hiked through the Antarctic until he got help. Suffering severe frostbite, he had to have several cybernetic prosthetics attached, and he developed a fear of the outdoors. Parnival set up shop in New York City, where he plundered real estate holdings and made a fortune, establishing a headquarters in a skyscraper.

(Ka-Zar III '97 Annual) – Parnival, as a hologram, and his armed men, including Mr. Hughes, forced their way in to a meeting with Dr. Joseph Heller, showing him photos of Heller's affair, copies of which had already been given to Heller's wife, Heather; Parnival demanded a cheap sale of Heller's company as an acquisition. Finding himself leaving his penthouse less and less due to his extreme phobia of germs, Parnival was shocked when a meteor hovered outside his window, exploding to reveal the serpentine alien Consumption, who began killing Parnival's men and then pursuing him in the streets and into the subway before rescuing Parnival from a speeding train. Receiving death for his service, Consumption melted into a permanent doorway portal, which opened to allow Parnival passage. Inside, Parnival met Thanos, who was trapped in another realm and who had a proposition. Parnival agreed, and exited, a new plot in place. He ordered Hughes to kill anyone who had seen the secret portal and ordered a secure room be built around it.

(Ka-Zar III#1 (fb)) – Two months ago, Parnival invited Gregor to his high-rise and, after testing his skills, had his employee Amy put Gregor on the payroll, sending him to fight Ka-Zar in the Savage Land.

(Ka-Zar III#3 – BTS) – After kidnapping young Matthew Plunder, Ka-Zar's son, Gregor was defeated, and he admitted that Parnival was alive.

(Ka-Zar III#4) – Plunderer assembled his private militia to protect him in his headquarters as Ka-Zar closed in to attack. Ka-Zar broke through to Parnival, heard why he was alive, then tossed him out the window into a net of vines. Parnival revealed his half of the medallion, stating he had recently learned that it could unlock greater secrets but how he wanted to be the only Plunder left alive to claim power that could make him a god in a germ-free world. As Parnival's men pursued Ka-Zar through the city, Parnival entered the password “Armageddon” into a secret doorway and entered a shadowy realm where a godlike figure (Thanosi clone) checked on the status of their plans.

(Ka-Zar III#5) – Parnival experimented on the Rhino, who was losing his intelligence and his powers. He boosted him back up to increased strength, making Rhino promise to serve him. Rhino soon attacked Ka-Zar, Shanna, and Zabu.

(Ka-Zar III#6) – In his private office, Parnival hunted a zebra for sport. When his employee Karen Conroy entered without permission, he erased her identity in retaliation. With his powers in flux, Rhino was convinced by Ka-Zar to return to Parnival's skyscraper for revenge. Rhino stabilized his powers himself then savagely attacked Parnival's building. In the midst of the chaos, the shadowy figure (“Thanos”) demanded an acceleration to the plans and Parnival heard from his men in the Savage Land that they had found the alien machinery they needed there.

(Ka-Zar III#7) – As Parnival's men pursued Shanna through the city, Parnival checked in with the shadowy figure (“Thanos”), reporting that his ruse had worked: Ka-Zar was in NYC while the Savage Land's equipment was being plundered. “Thanos” prepared to make himself known.

(Ka-Zar III#8) – Ka-Zar, Shanna and Matt Murdock realized there was no evidence of a further inheritance from Robert Plunder but Matt noticed on Ka-Zar's half of the medallion that there seemed to be a maze on it. Parnival saw “Thanos” reveal himself, still promising Parnival a world to rule, though Parnival assumed it was Earth. Ka-Zar, Shanna and Zabu stormed Parnival's skyscraper and he, from his hermetically sealed suit, admitted he had been lying and gave them his medallion half. Parnival's men then activated the Savage Land tech, transforming New York into a jungle landscape.

(Ka-Zar III#9) – With New York City overrun with jungle growth and dinosaurs, Ka-Zar and Shanna, with Zabu, realized there was an enormous interdimensional maze at its center and the amulet was the key to getting inside. “Thanos” again promised Parnival a reward as soon as he achieved greater power. Planning what to name his own country in his skyscraper, Parnival was shocked when Ka-Zar attacked and Parnival revealed that “Thanos” was behind it all. Shanna and Zabu found the center of the maze with a door inside, one that “Thanos” waited behind.

(Ka-Zar III#10) – Ka-Zar dragged Parnival, against his will, to a pack of pterodactyls, leaving Parnival scared enough to reveal the location to “Thanos"’s portal. Ka-Zar and Parnival entered and found “Thanos” battling Zabu and Shanna. Parnival tried escaping but “Thanos” took hold of him as he expanded the terraformer's energy across the universe, killing millions. “Thanos” pursued Ka-Zar through the dimension, which led them in and out of time and space, and when Parnival got on his nerves, “Thanos” left Parnival on Titan, covered in vines as he cried for help.

(Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A-Z Update I#1 – BTS) – “Thanos” was revealed as a Thanosi clone. Parnival returned to Earth, bringing Titanian technology with him.

(Civil War: Battle Damage Report I#1 (fb) – BTS) – Unable to return to Castle Plunder due to his fugitive status, the Plunderer relocated to the United States. He faced difficulties evading authorities after the passage of the Super-Human Registration Act.

(Marvel Comics Presents II#6/2 (fb) – BTS) – Encouraging his men to dress like him, Plunderer authorized one of his agents to use his costume and name.

(Punisher War Journal II#2/Civil War I#6) – When the super heroes broke out in civil war, Goldbug and the Plunderer (Parnival's agent) reached out to a group of rebel heroes through Diamondback for an alliance but Punisher gunned both men down the moment they entered the headquarters.

(Marvel Comics Presents II#5/2) – Don Kaminski of Roxxon hired Parnival (now blonde) to help in the Savage Land in an effort to get Anti-Metal from Ka-Zar and Shanna. He'd also hired Killer Shrike, Saboteur and Manticore.

(Marvel Comics Presents II#6/2) – Plunderer revealed it was an operative of his who had been killed then equipped Hydra with alien tech, a Vibranium Neutralizer, that would counter the Anti-Metal. Kaminski promised to make Parnival king of the Savage Land if his boss, Mr. Lukin, approved it. Sending Killer Shrike, Mandroids and Saboteur against Ka-Zar, Shanna, Tongah, Stegron, Devil Dinosaur, Moon Boy and the Savage Land Mutates, Parnival watched from afar.

(Marvel Comics Presents II#7/2) – Stegron reanimated a dinosaur army and overwhelmed the forces of Roxxon. Devil Dinosaur crashed the ship and Ka-Zar took Parnival into custody.

(Dark Reign Files I#1 – BTS) – Quasimodo assembled a profile on Plunderer for Norman Osborn, reporting on Plunderer's fleet of ships and piracy ports and activities in Hong Kong, Somalia, Florida, Tunisia and Singapore.

(Mighty Avengers II#1) – Plunderer, back in a white and blue costume, and his men sought to steal robot parts. They enthusiastically battled the Heroes for Hire (Luke Cage, Power Man, White Tiger) but Spider-Man (Otto Octavius) took Plunderer down.

(Captain America and the Mighty Avengers I#1 (fb) – BTS) – Tipped off by Hobgoblin (Roderick Kingsley) about a huge super hero fight, Plunderer and his men, including Brett and Terry, looted Genosha while the Red Skull fought Magneto and others. They were unknowingly subjected to the inversion when it took place.

(Captain America and the Mighty Avengers I#1) – Plunderer, Brett, Terry and others robbed the staff of Cortex Incorporated, including Jason Quantrell and Ian, during their staff meeting. After Parnival demanded the company's assets be transferred to his Swiss account, Plunderer's men were shocked when he wanted to give their take to orphans, as he now wanted to do something heroic for the world. Captain America (Sam Wilson), also inverted, attacked and began savagely taking down the men. Parnival refused to stand down and fired on Cap, whose shield deflected the bullet and it hurt Terry. Parnival begged for medical help for his man but Cap punched him out.

(New Avengers IV#11 (fb) - BTS) –  Plunderer, apparently no longer suffering from personality inversion, and Terry had special mechanized battle-suits created for them and they rented them, calling them Plunder-Bots, and they planned to commit robberies until they could pay them off.

(New Avengers IV#11) – Plunderer and Terry were robbing armored cars when Avengers Idea Mechanics (Hawkeye, Hulkling, Songbird, Squirrel Girl, Tippy-Toe, Wiccan) attacked, tearing the robot apart despite its impenetrable shields. Plunderer tried escaping in a mechanized force shield that he called his Plunder-Ball but Wiccan stopped him with a spell.

(Avengers Standoff: Assault on Pleasant Hill Omega I#1) – Plunderer was contained in the Pleasant Hill prison by S.H.I.E.L.D., his identity rewritten by Kobik, the sentient Cosmic Cube, until he was liberated. He escaped during a mass breakout.

(U.S. Avengers I#10) – Plunderer (in an open-shirted costume with a diamond belt) rode on the back of Blue Streak, seeking to rob Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S. but Squirrel Girl, Tippy-Toe and Enigma fought back.

Comments: Created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and John Romita, Sr..

Plunderer had profiles in Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe I#8 and the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A-Z Update I#1.

In Marvel Super-Heroes I#19, it was a little bit like the writers used established characters without reading their history: Parnival was called Edgar, Ka-Zar was living with Parnival in the mansion, Parnival was lying about the story with Robert Plunder's death being unknown and Parnival was still trying to get Ka-Zar's half of the medallion. The plot threads from this issue were never explained or picked up again but were loosely explained in OHOTMU. Ka-Zar and Parnival's origins were recounted again in Savage Tales I#6. Savage Tales Annual I#1 reprints Astonishing Tales I#11.

It has been suggested that the Golden Skull of Earth-15061 is a descendant of the Plunderer.

Whereas Ka-Zar seems to be loosely based upon the character of Tarzan by Edgar Rice Burroughs, his brother the Plunderer would appear to be based upon William Cecil Clayton, the aristocratic cousin of Tarzan, a big game hunter and romantic rival, who first appeared in "Tarzan of the Apes."
