Powers/Abilities/Functions: The Solomon Institute for the Criminally Insane was primarily a front for Taskmaster to train recruits to supply henchmen to various villains and organizations.

History:
(Avengers I#194 - BTS) - Selbe escaped from the Solomon Institute for the Criminally Insane.

(Avengers I#194) - Selbe traveled to Avengers Mansion to seek help from the Avengers, but was tracked to the mansion by Dr. Pernell Solomon via bio-scans. Mr. Warren presented a court order to the Avengers to obtain custody of Selbe, after which Selbe was transported back to the Solomon Institute in Dr. Solomon's limousine.

(Avengers I#195 - BTS) - Wasp (Jan Van Dyne) attempted to learn why Selbe sought out assistance from the Avengers by sneaking into the Institute.

(Avengers I#195 (fb)) - Wasp followed Dr. Solomon's limousine and infiltrated the Solomon Institute.

(Avengers I#195 - BTS) - Wasp was captured while sneaking around the Institute.

(Avengers I#195) - The Avengers sent Ant-Man (Scott Lang) and Yellowjacket (Hank Pym) to infiltrate the Solomon Institute in hopes of locating Wasp. The duo gained access through vents, while the rest of the Avengers (Captain America/Steve Rogers, Iron Man/Tony Stark, Vision, Jocasta, Beast/Hank McCoy, Wonder Man/Simon Williams, and Ms. Marvel/Carol Danvers) waited outside.

While searching for the Wasp, Ant-Man and Yellowjacket learned the true nature of the Solomon Institute: it was used as a front for a training academy to supply henchmen for super villains.

The Wasp, Ant-Man and Yellowjacket were taken captive and brought in front of Dr. Solomon. Solomon explained that Selbe was a clone of himself, intended to be used as a organ donor. The heroic trio briefly escaped, but were captured by the true mastermind behind the Institute, the Taskmaster.

(Avengers I#196) - Unhappy with Dr. Solomon for using his resources for personal use, Taskmaster forced Solomon to attack him, resulting in Solomon suffering a fatal heart attack due to stress.

The Avengers interrupted Taskmaster before he could use the captive insect-based heroes as target practice, resulting in a battle between the Avengers, Taskmaster's Cyber-Squad X and Taskmaster himself. Taskmaster single-handedly battled Captain America and Iron Man to a standstill, but decided to retreat instead of taking the chance of being captured in order to continue running his operations. The Avengers gained the upper hand and confronted Taskmaster as a group. Knowing he couldn't defeat the Avengers by himself, Taskmaster used a magnesium flare to blind the group, allowing him to escape via hover jet.
