The creature is tall, with a pair of long, tentacle-like arms, ending in three suction cup-tipped digits. They could like grip and contain or compress targets with great force. It could potentially scale smooth surfaces.
It had four tentacle-like legs, with spaced 90 degrees apart on his body, with one originating on the front, one on the back, and one on each side. These limbs ended in three digits; they did not appear to end in suction cups. These limbs could also potentially wrap around and contain or compress targets.
It possessed a single, central eye, and did not appear to have any visible nasal, oral, or auditory structures. However, it could apparently speak, although in a foreign language.
Anything else is purely speculative.
Height: Unrevealed (even with its legs significantly flexed, it appeared to be perhaps 2-3' taller than the 5'9" Nightcrawler)
Weight: Unrevealed (perhaps 765 lbs.)
Eyes: One (on head; yellow)
Hair: None
Skin color: Gray
History:
(X-Men I#107 (fb) - BTS) - Shi'ar Majestor D'Ken and the Shi'ar Imperial Guard (including the tentacled cyclopean) arrived on the World, just outside the M'kraan Crystal, the power of which the mad D'ken sought for himself.
(X-Men I#107) - As the X-Men arrived on the World, the tentacled cyclopean stood at the base of the M'kraan Crystal next to Eric the Red (who held Lilandra), D'ken, and an insectoid (also a member of the Imperial Guard). A fight swiftly broke about between the Imperial Guard and the X-Men, who sought to recover the captured Lilandra and to take custody of Eric the Red. The tentacled cyclopean remained alongside Eric and D'ken.
After D'ken summoned the Soul-Drinker demon to consume Lilandra's soul, the X-Men's Nightcrawler (Kurt Wagner) broke Lilandra free from her chains. D'ken ordered the insectoid and the tentacled cyclopean to ensure the Soul-Drinker took Lilandra's soul and no other.
As the insectoid and tentacled cyclopean approached Nightcrawler and Lilandra from the front, and the Soul-Drinker approached from the rear, Nightcrawler teleported Lilandra away, and the Soul-Drinker skewered and consumed the soul of the tentacled cyclopean, who screamed in agony as it perished.
Comments: Created by Chris Claremont, Dave Cockrum, and Dan Green.
Uncanny X-Men: The Official Index of the Marvel Universe entry for X-Men#107 listed all of those present opposing the X-Men in front of the M'kraan Crystal (excluding D'ken and Eric the Red) as members of the Imperial Guard, and also listed "two unidentified" with one dying in this issue. The only ones unidentified are the insectoid and the tentacled cyclopean, the latter of whom would be the other member who died, at the hands of the Soul-Drinker.
Per War of Kings: Warriors#1, when the Imperial Guard was first formed, each of the worlds in the Empire could send a member. That would seem to indicate the tentacled cyclopean is a member of one of the races in the Shi'ar Empire. Whether its appearance and abilities are typical (although it would presumably at least by supremely adept at its skills) of its race are unrevealed. Further, if it perished, the respective race could presumably send another member to replace it, as has happened on many cases with the Imperial Guardsmen.
Trypthe and the tentacled cyclopean look similar enough, to make me think,
that they are members of the same species. Maybe Trypthe was a
replacement for poor cyclopean, the Soul-Drinker victim?

They do look a lot alike, but not quite...maybe they are part of a succession?
