History:
(Thor the Mighty Avenger#1 (fb) - BTS) - Desmond
Tucker was employed as a security guard at the Bergen War Memorial
Museum, which was directed by Aubrey Fawkes.
(Thor the Mighty Avenger#1) - On duty, Tucker
cheerfully greeted Jane Foster, a museum staffer specializing in Nordic
history, as she rushed to see Fawkes. Later, Thor (disoriented,
banished from Asgard and seeking his hammer hidden in an urn) attacked
an exhibit case, but was stopped by Tucker and another guard. Foster
calmed Thor down and asked the guards to escort him civilly outside.
(Thor
the Mighty Avenger#2) - Seeking Foster, the villainous Hyde attacked
the museum. Tucker took Foster to safety while the other guards looked
after visitors. Hiding in a dark office, Foster told Tucker of her
earlier experience with the suspicious yet brutal Hyde. Tucker was
alerted by phone by colleagues that Hyde was closing in on them, so he
elected to take Foster to the evacuated Nordic section, arming himself
with a morning star antique (spiked ball and chain), but Hyde caught up
with them. Thor arrived suddenly and stopped the threat. Later, Fawkes
rebuked Foster about the damage (caused by Hyde) to the museum, but
Tucker clarified matters and she was excused.
(Thor the Mighty Avenger#7 (fb) - BTS) - Tucker briefly dated a woman called Chantelle.
(Thor the Mighty Avenger#7) - Slightly early for his
night shift start, Tucker checked in on Jane Foster for a quick chat.
He noted a box of antiques on her desk that she was about to sort. He
was drawn to a ancient cup (secretly enchanted by Merlin), but was
warned to wear gloves by Foster before touching any antiques. Tucker
drew back immediately, then commented how dry the weather had been.
Comments: Created by Roger Langridge (writer) and Chris Samnee (art).
Quite a minor character, but he was drawn to Merlin's enchanted cup that sought out heroes.
While friendly toward Jane Foster, he still respectfully called her by surname, despite her requests otherwise.
In my very early days of contributing to the
Appendix, my partner asked what the site was about. I said it profiled
obscure and minor characters, but an example was sought. I looked down
at the comic I was reading and an unnamed security guard was pictured,
so I said "Like this security guard!"And so from then on, my partner
quietly thought I had the odd hobby of profiling security guards in
comic books. So here, at last, is a security guard!
