History:
(Wolverine:
Weapon X#11 (fb) - BTS) - As a (presumably) young man -- before he had
kissed a girl -- Jeffrey Winstone was mutated by an unspecified
accident that transformed him into a material similar to volcanic rock;
he viewed his new form as monstrous.
Via long hours of physical therapy, he learned how to live in his new form: How to walk, how to fight, how to move like someone half his size.
He traveled far to find a secret monastery in the Himalayas where brooding "murder monks" trained him for years in their rigorous and arcane fighting arts.
He pushed himself to the limits of physical endurance, training his stone fists to "tear through granite walls like they were rice paper" and to "shatter human bones with the ease of snapping a twig.
He spent every last dime of his saving toward his mission of punishing the guilty in the city.
He considered the codename "Slag," but had not made a final decision. He made a costume for himself.
Just before embarking on his career, Winstone started a journal entry, detailing his history, what he done to get there, and his goals of punishing the guilty and making the criminals of the city fear his name.
(Wolverine: Weapon X#11) - Climbing high atop a gargoyle near the top of a building, Winstone leapt down, acrobatically diffusing his momentum on a lower roof top and apartment emergency staircase before landing on the ground in an alley.Comments: Created by Created by Jason Aaron and Ron Garney.
That should be other realities in which Slag did not perish but instead became a powerful and successful vigilante. I'd like to see some of those incarnations.

CLARIFICATIONS:
Jeffrey Winstone, aka "Slag," should be distinguished from:
Slag was made (or perhaps covered with, as he had blood in his body) of a material similar to volcanic rock, granting him enhanced durability and strength (allegedly sufficient to easily tear through granite walls and crush human bones).
Despite his size and mass, he was agile, able to move like someone half his size, and possessed substantial endurance.
At least 20-25 years in the future of Reality-10511, Slag remained a powerful opponent of the corrupt, world-leading corporation Roxxon.
(Wolverine: Weapon X#15 (fb)) <Reality-10511> - Roxxon sent their Deathloks through a temporal portal, 20-25 years in the relative past of Reality-616, where they were to neutralize all superhumans that might be a threat to them in the future; Slag was among those superhumans.
(Wolverine: Weapon X#11 - BTS) <As appeared to be the case with many other past counterparts> - When Jeffrey Winstone was slain by a Deathlok, his Reality-10511 counterpart likely faded from existence.
