History:
(New X-Men II#21 (fb) - BTS) - Dr. Jack Abrams worked at Saint Michael's Hospital in Chicago as a surgeon.

(New X-Men II#26 - BTS) - When the collapsed and inert mutant-killing machine Nimrod appeared before Reverend William Stryker he managed to access it's records and learned of the history of Earth-811. While researching Nimrod's database, Stryker learned of M-Day which would reduce Earth's population of mutants from millions to hundreds. Stryker used information from Nimrod's database to begin planning to help make Nimrod's future timeline come true on Earth-616. Combing through Nimrod's records' future obituaries and decided to save those lives that were meant to be lost, planning to recruit them into his mission, one of those lives was Dr. Jack Abrams.

(New X-Men II#21 (fb) ) - Abrams left work at Saint Michael's Hospital pulled over a cab in the pouring rain. However, just before Abrams could get in the cab he was stopped by Reverend William Stryker explaining it was a matter of life and death. Intrigued by the Reverend, Abrams let the cab leave without him only to watch the cab get hit by a bus which resulted in a huge explosion. Shocked he might have died in the car crash Abrams turned to Stryker who simply noted God believed in him.

(New X-Men II#21 - BTS) - Abrams quickly became a loyal follower to Stryker's cause. Believing mutantkind needed to be eradicated Abrams became one of his Purifiers.

(New X-Men II#22 (fb) ) - Abrams joined Stryker and several other Purifiers in Los Angeles where Stryker planned to rescue another life that was meant to be lost, that of assassin Matthew Risman. After reaching out to the hitman, Stryker revealed his family was in grave danger and needed to be saved from his house. The Purifiers watched as Risman saved his wife Piper and daughter Gracie from a giant mudslide, destroying the Risman-home. When Risman asked why God would spare a hitman, Stryker explained that God's army wasn't filled with just angels.

(New X-Men II#21 (fb) ) - Realizing it was only days until M-Day, Stryker held a press conference. Abrams was one of the many Purifiers robed in purple garbs who joined him. During the press conference Stryker revealed God would give the world a sign regarding mutantkind and that all of humankind should look at the results of the "grand miracle" and find the path of righteousness.

(New X-Men II#28 (fb) ) - During the press conference, Abrams stood beside Stryker when he told how God had spared his life and had given him the gift of foresight.

(House of M I#8 - BTS) - When a reality altering spell cast by the Scarlet Witch reduced Earth's population of mutants from millions to hundreds Stryker knew the endgame was in sight.

(New X-Men II#22 (fb) ) - Learning the Xavier Institute would evacuate the depowered students off campus Abrams, Risman and the other Purifiers prepared to head out to the Xavier Institute to kill them. When Stryker asked if they were ready the Purifiers answered as one they were indeed ready.

(New X-Men II#23 - BTS) - Two weeks after the global depowering the Xavier Institute was sending the depowered students home. A first busload of students had already left when a second, carrying another 42 former mutant teens, was blown up by the Purifiers.

(New X-Men II#25) - Abrams was present when Icarus returned to the Church of the Reverend William Stryker in Westchester where the young mutant had been brainwashed and his wings amputated. Abrams was surprised Icarus was still alive, noting that most people couldn't even survive the surgery he had. Abrams then joined Stryker as he welcomed Icarus back into his church where they showed him to Nimrod.

(New X-Men II#26 - BTS) - Stryker had manipulated Icarus into guiding Dust to their church, believing that if they could kill her Nimrod's future could become a reality and the Purifiers would succeed in killing all the teenage mutants at Xavier's. Their plan, however, didn't work since it wasn't Dust who followed Icarus to Stryker's church, but X-23, disguised as Dust. After seemingly killing "Dust", Stryker killed Icarus. Stryker and the Purifiers then set out for their crusade on the Xavier Institute.

(New X-Men II#27) - During the Purifiers' crusade Abrams stayed at Stryker's side while fighting Bishop and Cannonball who were guarding the school. Wielding a piece of Nimrod's technology, Stryker shot Cannonball out of the sky after which Abrams used his firearms to seriously injure the X-Man. Several of the Purifiers invaded the mutant encampment of the 198 but encountered heavy resistance. Stryker and his Purifiers managed to gain entrance to the school where they killed Quill and seriously injured Frost, Hellion and Onyxx before Dust killed most of the Purifiers and Elixir killed Stryker himself. Abrams and Risman managed to flee.

(New X-Men II#44 - BTS) - After Stryker's death Abrams took up residence in the Church of the Reverend William Stryker in Washington D.C. where masses of new Purifiers had gathered after learning the first new mutant baby since M-Day had been born. The Purifiers also worked alongside Lady Deathstrike and the Reavers to locate and kill the mutant baby.

(New X-Men II#44) - Now one of the more important members of the Purifiers, Abrams spoke to a large gathering of Purifiers explaining their highest priority was finding and executing the infant and had Purifiers from every town surrounding Cooperstown. One of the new recruits was Joaquin Murrieta who was given a tour of the facilities by Purifier Taylor who was unaware Murrieta was in fact the mutant Rictor who'd come to infiltrate them.

Although unconfirmed it seems likely Abrams, as a former surgeon was responsible for amputating Icarus' wings.

Listed under X-Men students are those who've known to have lost their lives in the Purifiers attack on the schoolbus (D.J., Dryad, Network, Rubbermaid and Tag), and those who were still alive and residing at the Xavier Institute during the Purifiers crusade.
