History:
(Monsters Unleashed II#4 (fb) - BTS) - Kei Kawade, an Inhuman child who used the name Kid Kaiju and who had the power to draw monsters and summon them from anywhere in the universe, began drawing original monsters, but he never finished them.
(Monsters Unleashed II#5) - During a battle with the Leviathon Mother, Kei finished drawing several original monsters, bringing them to life, including Mekara, Fireclaw, Scragg, Hi-Vo, Aegis, and Slizzik. They battled the massive alien beast (during which Aegis jokingly called Fireclaw 'Fryger'), and Fireclaw was soon killed. Kei then turned the other five monsters into one giant composite monster, Smasher, and used it to defeat the alien. The five monsters soon accompanied Kei and his parents, Minouru and Deanna Kawade, and Elsa Bloodstone to the terraformed island Mu to live, where they would be under the supervision of S.H.I.E.LD. and Damage Control.
(Monsters Unleashed III#1) - Mekara and the others helped Kei defeat Animax in Salt Lake City. Back on Mu, they heard Gloria Clark of Damage Control scolding Kei. Outside, while Kei discussed his education, Aegis dove in the water to catch sharks for fun. Later, Leviathona under the control of the Mole Man attacked a tanker at the coast of Texas.
(Monsters Unleashed III#2) - During the fight with the monsters, Aegis used the catchphrases "It's Clobberin' Time!" and "Aegis Smash!", causing Mekara to scold him. They soon realized that Kei and Elsa had been kidnapped by Mole Man. Soon, S.H.I.E.L.D. approached, determined to contain Aegis and his friends.
(Monsters Unleashed III#3) - Aegis enthusiastically sparred with the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, then they were shrunk down to small size by Pym Particles (by Dum Dum Dugan) and contained aboard the Helicarrier. Kei then summoned the smaller monsters to his location, where he was being held by the Intelligencia (with the Awesome Android).
(Monsters Unleashed III#4) - Aegis and the others provided counsel to Kei as the Intelligencia tried manipulating him. When Lady Hellbender and Elsa Bloodstone fought, the monsters were freed, and they attacked the villains despite their small size. Kei summoned the Commander from Krangro to aid as the fight resolved, then he restored his monsters to their giant size. He combined the monsters into Smasher, then rushed back to Mu to fight a composite Leviathon monster.
(Monsters Unleashed III#5) - Smasher defeated the composite monster, then Aegis and the others defeated the individual Leviathons. The monsters then joined Kei in defeating the Intelligencia. They later taunted Dum Dum Dugan for being small.
(Monsters Unleashed III#6) - Kei and Elsa took the monsters to Japan, to help save civilians at a nuclear reactor. Aegis disrupted an entire tidal wave, then was shocked when the civilians were still frightened of him.
(Monsters Unleashed III#7) - Aegis heard the other monsters wonder about their origins before they were drawn by Kei. The monsters were summoned by Kei and Elsa to the Savage Land to battle the Poison Fin Fang Foom. When they were overwhelmed, they realized their own powers were weakening due to Kei's lack of confidence. Kei then summoned the real Fin Fang Foom.
(Monsters Unleashed III#8) - Kei soon he restored his monsters to full strength when his confidence returned. The Poison Foom was killed, with Aegis delivering the killing blow, and the monsters returned to Mu. Back on Mu, Aegis wondered if things would ever be the same.
(Monsters Unleashed III#9) - On Mu, Aegis grew bored and desperately wanted some action, begging Kei to give him something to punch. Later, he saw Scragg and Kei return from a mission regarding giant bees, who had come to live on the island.
(Monsters Unleashed III#10) - Aegis was telling stories about the legendary fight between Pildorr the Plunderer and Goom as Mekara grew annoyed with him. When Kei entered, wanting to defy his parents and go aid Elsa on a mission, Aegis eagerly agreed to help. Kei rode on Aegis' back as he swam across the Pacific Ocean, until they reached the raised City Below the Seas, learning the Happyology Cult had partially raised the dread lord Uluath. Aegis battled a group of "Fishmen" by stomping on them, but his stomping caused additional vibrations that allowed Uluath to rise completely from beneath the ground. Aegis fought the massive giant Uluath, who soon swallowed Aegis whole. Remembering how Goom defeated Pildorr, Aegis forced himself free, flew into the air, and crashed down on Uluath, defeating him. After seeing Elsa depart, Aegis agreed to swim Kei back home.
(Monsters Unleashed III#11) - Aegis took Kei back to Mu, where they learned he was grounded for sneaking off. Mekara lectured them both, then Lockjaw appeared on the island, teleporting away with Kei and Mekara. When Kei's parents confronted the monsters about Kei being missing, they didn't believe Aegis' excuse about a teleporting dog. Later, Kei and Mekara returned with a Technarch in a shell that they named Egg.
(Monsters Unleashed III#12) - Aegis saw Kei return from a mission, having found new ways to communicate with Slizzik and Hi-Vo.
(Venomized#3) - Kei summoned Aegis and the others to New York City to aid in a battle against the invading Poisons.
(Venomized#4) - Kei had Aegis and the others stand against the Poison Thanos.
(Venomized#5) - Aegis and the others saw Scragg fall before the Poison Thanos, though Scragg was later revived in a miniature form. As the battle ended, the monsters returned to Mu and began rebuilding their lives.
(Marvel Monsters II#1) - Kei summoned Aegis and the others to an island where they battled the monsters of Maximillian Frankenstein.
Comments: Created by Cullen Bunn and Adam Kubert.
Some of the details about Aegis were revealed initially in an interview by Cullen Bunn about the Monsters Unleashed event. Aegis may have an origin prior to being summoned by Kei Kawade, or he may be an original creation by Kei. Aegis reminds me of a skyscraper and a Transformer at the same time. Aegis has an enthusiastic personality and he nerds out over monsters and super heroes. He loves punching, sharks, and action, and he hates being bored. He sometimes considers himself the leader of the monsters team.
