Marvel Universe I#7 - Medusa entry (fb) - BTS/Official Handbook of the
Marvel Universe: Fantastic Four 2005 (fb) - BTS) - Ambur grew up in
Attilan as the sister of Azur and the daughter of Kobar and La. Ambur
went on to marry Quelin and they had two daughters, Medusa and Crystal.
Ambur and Quelin worked as nutritionists. Azur married Korath and had
two sons, Karnak and Triton. Meanwhile, Mander's sister Rynda became
the queen, married to King Agon, and they had two children, Blackagar
and Maximus. Ambur and Quelin chose to expose their daughters to the
Terrigen mists when they were babies, giving Medusa the power to
control her hair and Crystal the ability to manipulate the elements.
Ambur and Quelin saw that Medusa would frequently visit Blackagar, who
was in stasis due to his destructive powers, and the two formed a bond
and would eventually marry.
(Women of Marvel I#1 (fb)) - Quelin and Ambur were discussing the
reports of Alpha Primitives coming in from the Wastelands and Ambur
tried to reassure her husband that the king was handling things.
Medusa, who was supposed to be studying for a history examination with
Doctor Nial, snuck by during a game to try to sit on the throne before
her cousins could but Ambur and Quelin stopped her then stopped
Maximus, Karnak and Crystal from doing the same thing. While they were
distracted, Medusa snuck in to sit on the throne, winning the contest.
(Inhumans: Once & Future Kings I#1 (fb) - BTS) - In the House of
Quelin, Ambur received a summons for Medusa to appear before the king
(later known as the Unspoken).
(Inhumans: Once and Future Kings I#1 (fb)) - When Medusa was reluctant to go before the king, Ambur and Quelin (in front of Crystal) ordered Medusa to get dressed up and go, reminding her of the need for fealty to the king.
Comments:
Created by Mark Gruenwald.
Ambur and Quelin are relatively unknown characters in the Marvel Universe but they have a lot of connections to other characters through Medusa, Crystal and Black Bolt. As the grandparents of both Ahura and Luna, and the parents of the Queen of Attilan, it is surprising they have not been seen more. It is quite possible that Ambur and Quelin are still living.
