History: (Elektra
I#18 (fb) – BTS) – Athos worked for
Ambassador Hugo Natchios in Greece. Hugo's wife Christina gave birth to
baby
Elektra while they were gone and Christina died shortly afterward.
Athos
helped raise Elektra for Hugo, along with staff men Theo and Stavros.
He told
her comforting things about her mother as she grew up.
(Daredevil I#168 (fb)) – Acting as bodyguard,
Athos
accompanied Elektra to college in America at Columbia University. Athos
was
protective of Elektra when she met students "Foggy" Nelson and Matt
Murdock,
though he did leave her alone briefly when a student called him
"bullethead."
(Daredevil I#168 (fb) - BTS/Wolverine II#106 (fb)
– BTS) – After Hugo Natchios was kidnapped by criminals including
Carlos and Louie, only to be accidentally shot in police crossfire,
Athos tried saving Hugo
and Elektra but was shot multiple times himself. He later lost an eye
and a leg later in
the hospital.
(Elektra I#18 (fb)) – Elektra later returned to
her father's
estate in Greece and found Athos, Stavros and Theo interacting there.
(Wolverine II#106 (fb) – BTS) – Years later,
Stavros, Theo and Athos
apprehended Sawyer, the last living man who'd initially taken Hugo
hostage.
They kept him strung up.
(Wolverine II#106) – Elektra brought Wolverine home with her to Greece. Athos exited, wearing an eyepatch and walking with a crutch, and he bowed before Elektra, apologizing for not stopping the death of her father years earlier. She reminded him that he was family and would always have a place in her home. With Stavros and Theo, Elektra and Athos then all sat down for a meal. They told Elektra that they knew where Sawyer was but she asked them to simply let the man live. Later, they chose to let him go, honoring her wishes.
