History: (Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe I#1 – Alpha Primitives entry (fb) – BTS) – 4000 years ago in Attilan, the geneticist Avadar petitioned the Inhuman Genetics Council to lift the governmental ban on cloning so that he could develop and clone a slave race that would focus on keeping Attilan functioning, including city functions like sanitation, food production and manufacturing. Avadar bio-engineered the first Alpha Primitive and then began cloning others. Within a decade, 500 Alpha Primitives were serving the Inhumans, which they would do for thousands of years ahead. Each Alpha Primitive was cloned to be 5 feet 7 inches with green eyes and hairless bodies, and they were bred for long 18-hour work days, sleeping the other 6 hours during the day. In addition, each Primitive was created to be docile and incapable of reproduction.

Comments: Created by Mark Gruenwald, Ron Wilson and Josef Rubinstein.

Very little is known about Avadar, including his powers and his appearance. It is not known HOW he created the Alpha Primitives but it is very likely that the Xerogen Crystals were involved in some capacity, which means some of the early Alpha Primitives may have been devolved humans or Inhumans. Avadar has only been mentioned in various Handbook entries that mention the Inhumans and Alpha Primitives. There has been no new information shared about him in other sources.

As for the Xerogen Crystals, the Kree, who created the Inhumans on Earth, left them behind thousands of years ago, based in the Slave Engine, to devolve any human into an Alpha Primitive form. At the same time, the Kree also left behind the Terrigen Crystals to unlock the genetic potential of any Inhuman, allowing them to evolve. The Slave Engine and Xerogen Crystals, however, were forbidden and locked away.
