History:

(ALF#38/1 (fb) - BTS) - The Bountree Hunters were sentient plant spacefaring mercenaries from the planet Arboria who had garnered a fearsome reputation for capturing rare items and beings from across the universe to sell to the highest bidder. As Arborians, they appeared as Earth-like trees and could run using their exposed "roots" and rocket into space, as well shoot projectiles associated with their tree forms (citrus, conifer, oak).

   Discovering that Gordon Shumway was the seeming sole survivor of the destroyed planet Melmac, the Bountree Hunters tracked him to Earth and the Tanner household to capture and sell him.

(ALF#38/1) - Responding to Shumway's distraught state, house owner Willie Tanner disbelievingly yet suspiciously approached the three new "trees" in the garden but was fired upon by the trees. Shumway had Willie and Lynn Tanner distract the mercenaries with a stuffed duplicate while they escaped by car to Oregon following Shumway's plan. Discovering they'd been fooled, the Hunters pursued and blocked Tanner's car; Shumway led the Hunters to a part of the forest being cleared by lumberjacks, stealthily tying yellow ribbons to the Hunters' trunks that marked them ready for lopping. Terrified at this fate, Shumway agreed to remove the ribbons if they promised to leave, never to return, and the Bountree Hunters rocketed back into space.
