History:
(Quick Trigger Western#15/1 (fb) - BTS) - In Dakota
County, young Frank Yarrow terrified the local communities with his
trouble-making and bullying ways. A loner, he called himself the Dakota
Kid, but made sure never to kill or rob anyone, only engaging in
"harmless" gunfights.
(Quick Trigger Western#15/1) - Eventually, the Dakota
Kid was arrested after shooting in a saloon. He was sentenced to five
years in the state penitentiary for his trouble-making ways, but
released on parole after serving three provided he never pick up a gun.
He
returned to his hometown a reformed man, but his reputation remained
and gang leader Pete Denbrow wanted Yarrow to join in his criminal
activities as the Dakota Kid. Yarrow refused and was watched by the
same sheriff who had arrested him. Denbrow's continued criminal
activities stretched the sheriff's resources thin and he asked Yarrow
to become deputy, partly to prove he wasn't part of the crimes. But
Yarrow stuck to his parole condition to not handle a gun and declined.
That night, Denbrow and his gang visited Yarrow and ordered him to take
the deputyship and kill the sheriff. Instead, Yarrow swiftly disarmed
Denbrow with the anger he once had as the Dakota Kid and held Denbrow's
gang
at gunpoint. The sheriff soon arrived and the truth was revealed. The
sheriff still made Yarrow his deputy, his law work overriding the
probation condition.
(Marvel Westerns: Outlaw Files (fb) - BTS) - Years later, another man called Cliff Morgan grew up and loved hearing about shooters like the Dakota Kid (Frank Yarrow) and took on the moniker himself.
