DENDURIAN CARNOSAURS race
Classification: Semi-humanoid extraterrestrial race
Location/Base of Operations: Their planet of origin is unrevealed (see comments);
Tyrant's worldship
Known Members: None identified
Affiliations: Tyrant used them as guards after enslaving their race
Enemies: Ganymede, Persephone, Tyrant;
indirectly Jakar (who sent Ganymede and Persephone to face them)
First Appearance: Cosmic Powers Unlimited#3 (November, 1995)
Powers/Abilities: The Dendurian Carnosaurs
were large creatures that apparently walked on four legs, but they
could also stand on the back legs only, and their front legs also
functioned as arms. Based on their size alone, they would appear likely
to possess some degree of superhuman strength (perhaps enhanced human).
Their forelimb digits, at least, ended in sharp talons at least a few inches long.
Both their mandibular and maxillary teeth were all sharps and perhaps a couple inches long; there were spaces between each of their teeth.
Their spines were covered by a thick ridge.
One of the Carnosaurs appeared to
have cybernetic and/or bionic implants, at least on parts of its right
forelimb and on its skull. The significance of these is unrevealed.
Traits: Dendurian Carnosaurs appear to be savage beasts (see comments).
Type: Bilaterally symmetric semi-humanoid reptilian bipeds
Eyes: Two (on head; brown and red colors seen)
Fingers: Three or four (plus opposing thumb)
Toes: Unrevealed
Skin color: Green
Average height: Approximately 4' at shoulder (when standing on all fours); perhaps 6' long (nose to tailbone)
Average weight: Approximately 800 lbs.
History:
(Cosmic Powers Unlimited#3 (fb) - BTS) - A pair
(at least) of Dendurian Carnosaurs were enslaved by the powerful Tyrant
and brought aboard his Worldship.
(Cosmic Powers Unlimited#3 (fb) - BTS) - Tyrant had a pair of Dendurian Carnosaurs guard a vault containing a powerful energy globe.
(Cosmic Powers Unlimited#3) -
When Jakar transported the Spinsterhood's Ganymede and Persephone into
Tyrant's Worldship to retrieve the energy globe (while Jack of Hearts
provided a distracting by engaging Tyrant's Heavy Troopers).
Persephone recognized the creatures guarding the vault as Dendurian Carnosaurs, and Ganymede noted that the creatures would prove no match for them.
With their speed, skill, and
power, Ganymede and Perseophone rapidly defeated the creatures, leaving
them unconscious on their back, if not worse.
Comments: Created by Michael Gallagher and Sandu Florea.
Given their name, I would imagine they come from a world known as Dendur, Denduron, Dendurius, or something like that.
The term Carnosaurs would literally mean meat-lizard, but it's a term that combines carnivore and dinosaur, so it is used to mean meat-eating lizard.
Thanks to Loki for providing the second image, which I missed in my haste to evacuate from Hurricane Dorian.
