History: (Avengers
Halloween Special#1 (fb) - BTS) - Dr. Jackson had established a
reputation as one of the best ophthalmologists in the world. Matt Murdock was talked into having an eye replacement
by his friend "Foggy" Nelson, who suggested Dr. Jackson based on
reputation. Upon learning of Murdock's impending surgical procedure,
the Kingpin kidnapped Dr. Jackson's children to force Dr. Jackson to
alter the tear ducts on the donated eyes intended for Murdock so that
they emitted a powerful hallucinogen.
(Avengers Halloween Special#1) - When Murdock
arrived for his surgery, unaware of the Kingpin's blackmail of Dr.
Jackson, Dr. Jackson assured Murdock that even though the surgical
procedure seemed scary, it was a fairly simple procedure to remove
Murdock's damaged eyes and replace them with donated ones. Dr. Jackson
then had Murdock count backwards from ten as the anesthesia began to
kick in. Following the surgery, as Murdock recovered, Dr. Jackson
informed "Foggy" Nelson that Murdock's newfound vision would be blurry
for a few days. When the recovering Murdock later hallucinated
Bullseye, tricking him into stabbing Nelson before causing him to have
hallucinatory visions of his deceased loved ones, the panicking Murdock
phoned Dr. Jackson to tell him something had gone horribly wrong with
the surgery. Dr. Jackson apologized, informing Murdock that his
children had been taken and he had been given no choice but to fill
Murdock's tear ducts with a powerful hallucinogenic. Murdock demanded
to know how long the hallucinogenic effects would last and Dr. Jackson
grimly replied that the hallucinations would never end, warning that
the Kingpin knew Murdock's identity and that he was coming for Murdock.
Comments: Created by Rob Fee and Eoin Marron.
Dr. Jackson's eye and hair color were impossible to determine, as he was only seen in shadow and wearing a hat. Additionally, he was never seen next to a character whose height/weight had been officially revealed so his height/weight was equally impossible to approximate.
Kingpin was never identified by name on-panel but one
can assume he was called the Kingpin. Similarly, Matt Murdock was never
called Daredevil on-panel but references to his origin and superhuman
senses were made, suggesting that was Daredevil on Earth-18121.
Profile by Proto-Man.
CLARIFICATIONS:
Dr. Jackson has no known connections to:
The Kingpin was much like his Earth-616 counterpart up until he learned of Matt Murdock's heroic identity. Soon learning of Murdock's impending eye replacement surgery, the Kingpin kidnapped Dr. Jackson's children and forced Jackson to alter the eyes donated for Murdock's replacement so that they emitted a powerful hallucinogen. Following the successful surgery, Murdock began hallucinating and soon learned of the Kingpin's blackmail, the hallucinogenic tear ducts and the Kingpin's intent to come after him. Moments after the panicking Murdock tore out his replacement eyes, the Kingpin arrived with a baseball bat covered in barbed wire but the now completely blind Murdock could not tell if anyone was there.
--Avengers Halloween Special#1
Matt Murdock was the son of boxer Battlin' Jack Murdock and later became a blind hero with superhuman senses, falling in love with Karen Page and Heather Glenn before they both perished. Eventually talked into having an eye replacement by his friend "Foggy" Nelson, Murdock had his damaged eyes removed and replaced with donated ones by ophthalmologist Dr. Jackson, who had secretly been blackmailed by the Kingpin into implanting tear ducts that emitted a powerful hallucinogen. Upon awaking after his surgery, Murdock quickly began hallucinating his old foe Bullseye was about to attack Nelson and hurled a pair of scissors at "Bullseye," only to fatally hit Nelson instead. Murdock then hallucinated his deceased lover Karen Page, followed by Heather Glenn and his father, Jack Murdock. Unsure what was going on, Murdock phoned Dr. Jackson to inform him that something had gone wrong with the surgery but Dr. Jackson explained how the Kingpin had blackmailed him into implanting hallucinogen-producing tear ducts. Learning that the hallucinations would never end, Murdock tore out his replacement eyes, becoming completely blind. As he sat in his bathroom, Murdock heard a noise but was unable to see the Kingpin coming in to attack him.
"Foggy" Nelson was the best friend of the blind hero Matt Murdock. Eventually talking Murdock into having an eye replacement to restore his sight, Nelson recommended ophthalmologist Dr. Jackson and accompanied Murdock to his surgery. Following the surgery, Nelson brought Murdock back to his apartment and when Murdock's sight returned, Murdock hallucinated his old foe Bullseye about to attack Nelson. Not seeing Bullseye, Nelson was confused as to what Murdock was ranting about but Murdock quickly hurled a pair of scissors at the hallucination, fatally hitting Nelson in the chest.
