Halloween Special#1/5) - While trick-or-treating with his friend Marie,
Rickey (in a wolf Halloween costume) ventured to the abandoned Xavier's
School for Gifted Youngsters with Marie despite being somewhat worried
about the rumors of the mansion being haunted. When Marie assured
Rickey that it wasn't haunted and admitted she had heard there used to
be hope inside, Rickey agreed to look inside, remarking that his dad
had told him stories about monsters being inside the School. Marie
argued that the people at the School weren't monsters but special but
Rickey asked if they were so special, how come they had died. Marie
replied that monsters had killed the special people inside and a
nervous Rickey asked if the monsters might still be inside before he
fell through the floorboards into a lower level of the mansion. Landing
in what was once the mansion's Danger Room, Rickey quickly found
himself surrounded by Danger Room constructs of mutant villains. Before
the villains could kill Rickey, however, the heroic Wolverine jumped in
to protect Rickey, who was lifted back up to ground level by Marie, who
revealed her own mutant abilities. Apologizing to Rickey for leading
him into the mansion, Marie assured the terrified Rickey that the
constructs that attacked him were not monsters but ghosts of mutants
like herself. When Wolverine returned to the surface, Rickey watched as
Marie asked Wolverine for a trick-or-treat and the hero smiled,
remarking that he'd give a little of both before motioning to an old
Cerebro helmet. The ghostly Wolverine then disappeared, leaving Rickey
to question what Wolverine was gesturing at, and Marie answered
Rickey's question by claiming the helmet was hope.

CLARIFICATIONS:
Earth-32491's Rickey has no known connections to:
Marie was a friend of Rickey who was secretly a mutant. During a Halloween night of trick-or-treating, Marie convinced Rickey to venture into the long-abandoned Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters despite Rickey's being scared of possible monsters inside. Once inside, Rickey fell through the floorboards and was attacked by Danger Room constructs of long-dead mutant villains, only to be rescued by Wolverine. During the distraction, Marie revealed her mutant powers, pulling Rickey back up to ground level before Wolverine returned to Marie and Rickey. Looking at the mutant hero, Marie asked Wolverine for a trick-or-treat and Wolverine smiled, remarking that it would be a little of both before motioning towards the old Cerebro helmet and disappearing. When Rickey asked Marie was the helmet was, Marie replied that it was hope.
Marie possessed the mutant ability to project an energy field that made anything within the field weightless and able to be carried through the air.
--Avengers Halloween Special#1/5
Earth-32491's Wolverine was much like his Earth-616 counterpart up until he was killed by the very monsters he fought against. Following his death, Wolverine became a ghost that haunted the long-abandoned Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters and when the young Rickey and Marie ventured inside, Wolverine secretly watched the kids from the shadows. When Rickey fell through the floorboards into the mansion's old Danger Room and was attacked by Danger Room constructs, Wolverine made his presence known, battling the constructs so that Marie could save Rickey. Returning to the children after defeating the constructs, Wolverine smiled when Marie asked him for a trick-or-treat. Motioning towards the old Cerebro unit, Wolverine replied that he'd give a little of both before disappearing.
Wolverine existed as a spirit, able to appear and disappear at will. Like his Earth-616 counterpart, he also possessed claws that he could extend from his knuckles.
