History: (Avengers
Halloween Special#1/4 (fb)) - The assembled les Gars attended a party
in celebration of opera singer Marie Castiglione, where les Gars leader
Raoul's lover Christine became jealous of Marie. Raoul agreed with
Christine that they were all meant for better things and the rest of
les Guys decided to take matters into their own hands. That night, les
Gars (and Christine) visited the home of Marie Castiglione and murdered
Marie and her two children, leaving them to die in the arms of Marie's
husband.
(Avengers Halloween Special#1/4) - One week later,
les Gars visited the Palais Garnier to hear Christine practicing for
her debut night at the opera and Raoul suggested that all of les Gars
should be proud to see Christine onstage, given how much trouble they
had went through to ensure Christine's stardom. Later, unaware that
Marie's husband was in the stage rafters, les Gars were shocked when a
chandelier fell atop Christine, killing her, and Marie's husband leapt
from the rafters to punish those responsible for Marie's murder. Taking
down one of les Gars with a gunshot to the head, the newly-dubbed
Punisher of the Opera hurled a knife into the head of another les Gars
member before catching up to the fleeing Raoul and shooting him point
blank.
