History: (Avengers: Roll Call
- Avengers Academy entry (fb) - BTS) - Healer Kelly Garnett was
captured and used as a test subject by Norman Osborn during his tenure
as head of the Initiative program.
(Avengers Academy I#14.1 (fb) -
BTS) - Upon being freed from captivity, Kelly Garnett began using her
powers for humanitarian work, soon befriended and possibly romancing
young billionaire and fellow Norman Osborn captive Jeremy Briggs, who
supported Kelly's work. Briggs soon funded a reality show starring
Kelly and provided her good publicity.
(Avengers Academy I#14.1) - When Jeremy Briggs was
showing the Avengers Academy students the status of some of the other
former Osborn captives, he took Academy students Striker and Finesse to
Haiti to meet Kelly Garnett, who was using her healing powers to work
miracles in areas where medical equipment was limited. Shaking hands
with Striker, Kelly admitted she had seen him on television and
mentioned that she had also recently signed a deal for her own
"feel-good" reality show, asking Striker to get the word out about the
good work she was doing in Haiti in hopes of getting more funding for
her show. Kelly then invited Striker to be a guest of her upcoming show
but when Striker replied that he would need to get approval from the
Avengers, Kelly sarcastically commented that Striker needed a
permission slip. Kelly quickly apologized for her condescending remark,
commenting that she had a problem with the whole "hero/villain" thing
when people could be doing so much more with the gifts they were given.
Kelly then asked why superhumans didn't just become cops since costumes
painted them a target for sociopaths and when Finesse replied that some
would consider superheroes sociopaths, Kelly laughed and said she liked
Finesse. Kelly then invited the Avengers Academy students to assist her
in helping the needy, claiming they could always use extra hands, and
Striker replied with an awkward bit of flirting. Calling Striker cute,
Kelly suggested he look her up when he was of legal age before Jeremy
Briggs interrupted, mentioning that it was time to leave. When Briggs
thanked Kelly for her time, Kelly joked that Briggs' talk was cheap and
he knew how to thank her, and Briggs joked back that her check was in
the mail.

Kelly Garnett's last name was first revealed in the
Avengers Academy Handbook profile in Avengers: Roll Call (2012).
It was never revealed how Kelly Garnett acquired her superhuman powers but it seems somewhat likely that she could've been a mutant though I suppose it's equally possible that she had been mutated to gain powers.
Profile by Proto-Man.
