History:
(Daredevil Annual I#7/1) - At Hydra Genetics Laboratory #5, several Hydra genetic experiments escaped from their cages, including Sathan, Cassandra Romulus, and Guillotine (a berserker with rows of sharp appendages implanted in his flesh). Nothing is known of Guillotine's life prior to his Hydra experimentations.
(Punisher Annual II#4/2 (fb) - BTS) - Guillotine took a job working for Nori Okun, a Japanese drug lord.
(Punisher Annual II#4/2) - Nori Okun and his men met Jimmy "the Whale" Sabini's American mobsters, and Guillotine slaughtered them to help Okun take over the drug trade.
(Punisher Annual II#4/2 - BTS) - Guillotine slaughtered more drug dealers, with Ron Takimoto on his tail. He began slowly asserting control over Okun's drug empire.
(Punisher Annual II#4/2) - Okun confronted Guillotine on his betrayals and ordered him killed, but Guillotine killed Okun with a slash of his claws, then he had Okun's men shoot him dead. He made more deliveries to suppliers, including Clive Bronkowitz, before they were attacked by Ron Takimoto and Punisher, working together. Guillotine repelled Punisher's bullets by swiping his blades back and forth, then he disarmed the man. Takimoto attacked directly, using martial arts, but Guillotine easily killed Takimoto, then boarded a helicopter to escape. Punisher knocked him free of the pilot seat and they both held on under the copter as they battled. Punisher tricked Guillotine into cutting his own arm off, and Guillotine fell to the ground below. When Guillotine became aware, he had been apprehended by Strucker, who said perhaps he would let Guillotine win the drug trade back someday.
(Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. II#29 (fb) - BTS) - Guillotine was experimented on and given a cybernetic arm.
(Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. II#27 (fb) - BTS) - At the direction of Strucker, Guillotine kidnapped the family of United Nations employee, Mr. Denham, to force him to act against Nick Fury.
(Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. II#27) - Denham called in to Guillitone to report the job was done, and Guillotine promised to release his family "someday". As Guillotine complained about not having a more senior leadership role, Strucker gathered his four Hydra lieutenants, including Guillotine, Garotte, Saltz, and Romulus, and instructed them to move forward with their plans against S.H.I.E.L.D., and they were sent to find an abandoned nuclear-powered ice breaker left by the Russians in the North Pole.
(Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. II#28) - On a Hydra mission aboard the Arctic-1, Guillotine was threatening agents for fun when Garotte threatened to cut off his other arm if he didn't back down. A S.H.I.E.L.D. plane closed in on them, and Romulus got everyone into the cargo container to safety as the Arctic-1 was destroyed, jettisoning it free. After Guillotine repaired their Geiger counter, the lieutenants took off on snowmobiles to find the ice breaker, leaving the other agents behind to finish repairs.
(Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. II#29) - Guillotine and the other lieutenants got lost in the North Pole on their snowmobiles. S.H.I.E.L.D. (Nick Fury, Dum-Dum Dugan, Alexander Pierce, Network Nina) and Wolverine attacked, and Wolverine easily shrugged off Guillotine's slicing blows before severing his cybernetic arm. The Hydra agents escaped in an explosion, and Pierce was badly hurt. They soon found the ice breaker in a cave under broken ice, and Guillotine worried about Strucker's reaction to his losing an arm again. They called Hydra for pickup, and Guillotine complained about being left to handle the nuclear fuel assembly. S.H.I.E.L.D. and Wolverine attacked again, and Guillotine finished the fuel assembly. As the others escaped, Guillotine jumped at Fury, determined to capture him, but he ended up shot multiple times. Fury then used Guillotine's body to cut through the cables to the reactor, dropping it into the ice as the lieutenants left empty-handed. Guillotine was presumably left for dead.
