Powers/Abilities: Buzz Scanlon had a type of
"danger sense" that warned him of impending trouble, but no idea of
what it actually would be. He initially ignored such premonitions, but
this undermined his self-confidence until he learned to listen to such
signals. He was a good horse-rider and could handle a gun.
History:
(Wild Western#9/3 (fb) - BTS) - Buzz Scanlon ignored
psychological premonitions of danger and others nicknamed him "Hard
Luck Kid" for the bad things that occurred soon after he was there. He
was quietly aware of impending danger, but did not know what form it
would take. These circumstances undermined his self-confidence and he
became an armed wagon escort for settlers crossing from St. Louis to
California in the 1880s. During one such wagon trek, he opened up to
another rider, but then had another premonition from his "danger
sense"; thundering ground soon revealed a bison charge. The other rider
encouraged Scanlon to listen to his premonitions and they quickly
turned the wagon train so that it lined up with the charging creatures,
leaving no loss of life or property. Scanlon's confidence was boosted
and, using his "danger sense", became a daring adventurer on the
frontier, losing his nickname in the process.

This was a text-only story, so no images are given.
No reason was given for this "danger sense" (my term), so it could be from a blessing or curse, mutation, genetics, etc.
The tale was told by an unnamed speaker, with the
closing paragraph vaguely suggesting it may have been an
attention-seeking yarn or even the history of the storyteller, but nothing there that disqualifies it from
canon.
