History:
(X-Men/Spider-Man#4 - BTS) - Shunned by society for being a mutant, the man known only as Joe Bugs eventually found his place among the Morlocks, an underground society of misfits and mutants. There he befriended another Morlock, Ed.
(House of M#8 - BTS) - Joe Bugs was one of the few mutants who retained his mutant nature when a reality altering spell cast by the Scarlet Witch reduced the number of gene active mutants worldwide to a mere few hundred.
(X-Men/Spider-Man#4 (fb) - BTS) - His friend Ed lost his mutant abilities and reverted back to his human form, nevertheless Joe Bugs never stopped looking out for his friend.
(X-Men/Spider-Man#4 (fb) - BTS) - Although most mutants had lost their abilities, those who wished them harm were still around. Xraven, a clone created by Mr. Sinister by using the DNA of Kraven the Hunter, the original X-Men and part of the Carnage symbiote was tasked with collecting DNA samples from every remaining mutant. As such he hunted Joe Bugs, Joe grabbed his friend and tried escaping the hunter.
(X-Men/Spider-Man#4 (fb) ) - Joe Bugs and Ed successfully fled the Alley, Xraven, however, quickly caught up and attacked the flying mutant disabling the use of his wings. Determined to keep his friend save Joe defended Ed, not realizing Xraven was only interested in him, as he was sent to collect mutant DNA. Joe Bugs attacked Xraven with his scorpion-like tail but wasn't prepared for the hunter's speed who managed to get in close enough after which he stabbed Joe in the heart with a knife. Standing over Joe's corpse Xraven told Ed he was insignificant, not worth getting his blade dirty and left. Ed then sought out the X-Men's help.
(X-Men/Spider-Man#4) - Believing Kraven the Hunter to be responsible the X-Men called in Spider-Man to help. The X-Men and Spider-Man then examined Joe Bugs' corpse after which Spider-Man put his corpse in a cocoon of webbing. Since Joe was homeless Cyclops decided he would be buried at the Xavier Institute's Memorial Garden.

It's been unrevealed whether Joe Bugs joined the Morlocks before or after M-Day, when many millions of mutants lost their powers.
