History: (Daredevil I#159) – In the courtroom of Judge Coffin, attorneys Matt Murdock and "Foggy" Nelson requested a delay in a court trial after they were swarmed by media after the two attorneys had recently been hurt and kidnapped by a super-villain. Coffin reluctantly agreed to a week's delay but he vowed to himself that he would see justice one way or another.

(Daredevil I#163) – At the reelection campaign party for district attorney Blake Tower, Judge Coffin argued with Tower about the ethics of using force against a threat like the Hulk. Coffin also questioned the capabilities of Matt Murdock, who had once defended the Hulk in court.

(Daredevil I#182 - BTS) - Debbie Harris answered a late night call from Judge Coffin, who informed Foggy of some bad news that he had to rush out and deal with.
