History:
(Marvel Mangaverse: Spider-Man - BTS) - Crimelord, the Kingpin assembled a large army of mercenaries he called the Kuji Kuri, leading them in the field was Venom, a ronin.
(Marvel Mangaverse: Spider-Man (fb) - BTS) - Fearing the Spider Clan would threaten his Kuji Kuri he ordered Venom to destroy the clan and kill it's ninjas. Venom followed his master's orders and killed the ninjas and their sensei Ben Parker. Venom, however, decided to spare the young Peter Parker as the two of them were raised like brothers.
(Marvel Mangaverse: Spider-Man) - Learning Venom had spared the live of the remaining member of the Spider Clan, the Kingpin summoned Venom to him. While several servants tended to the Kingpin's needs he ordered Venom to kill the boy, Venom reluctantly agreed and left with the full force of the Kuji Kuri. Out in the city Venom nearly died at the hands of Spider-Man and learned what it meant to embrace his destiny, Venom then decided to take the power and the Kuji Kuri for himself and returned to the Kingpin. Venom brutally murdered the Kingpin, while soaked in the man's blood he announced to usurp his power.
(Spider-Man: Legend of the Spider-Clan#1 - BTS) - Through mysterious ways the Kingpin had survived Venom's attack. Now hooked up to advanced machinery to save his life he started to rebuild his empire in secret.
(Spider-Man: Legend of the Spider-Clan#1 - BTS) - The Kingpin hired Felicia Hardy, the Black Cat to locate a powerful amulet, lost during the Hulk's attack on New York City. The Kingpin, however, wasn't the only one looking for the amulet as was the Green Goblin who hoped to use the amulet to resurrect his deceased wife.
(Spider-Man: Legend of the Spider-Clan#1 - BTS) - After acquiring the mysterious amulet the Black Cat was killed by the Devil Hunter (Matt Murdock) who cut the girl in half. The amulet then ended up in the hands of Spider-Man who was transformed by the amulet's dark essence.
(Spider-Man: Legend of the Spider-Clan#2 - BTS) - The Kingpin had the Black Cat's corpse retrieved and put his scientists to work on her. The Kingpin's scientist didn't just return Hardy to the land of the living but improved her body with all kind of cybernetic implants like a new body and razor-sharp claws. The moment the Black Cat regained consciousness the Kingpin spoke to her asking if she believed in heaven. He then send her to New York City.
(Spider-Man: Legend of the Spider-Clan#3 - BTS) - When the Black Cat had reached New York City the Kingpin once again spoke to Felicia. The Kingpin revealed her cybernetic implants would shut down after 24 hours unless she would deliver him the amulet. Determined to save her own life the Black Cat set out to find Spider-Man and the amulet.
(Spider-Man: Legend of the Spider-Clan#5) - The Black Cat was successful in her mission and returned to the Kingpin with the amulet and only two minutes and thirteen seconds left on the clock. The Kingpin congratulated Hardy on her success and assured the girl the code that unlocked her shutdown mechanism was already being uploaded to her body's systems. Then when the Black Cat had left the Kingpin activated the mysterious amulet, with the amulet in his power the Kingpin concluded he'd been reborn and since Venom had been destroyed he could once again rule the Kuji Kuri with an iron fist.
Comments: Created by Kaare Andrews (writer, pencils, inks).
The Kingpin's Kuji Kuri resembled classic Spider-Man villains like Electro, Rhino, Mysterio, Kraven the Hunter and one who resembled either Carrion or Cletus Kasady.
Due to the Asian specific nature of the Mangaverse reality, it goes without saying that while characters might look similar to their 616 counterparts, they most likely will have distinctly different names, codenames or powers. Therefore we will only list the names when they have been used in the comics.Profile by MarvellousLuke
