History:
(Cable II#82 (fb) - BTS) - In Reality-2775, circa 2000 A.D., Cable saved Randall Shire (possessed by the Undying known as Semijan (see comments) and seeking to gain control over humanity via mind-control and a message of peace and harmony) from an
assassin (Domino/Neena Thurman possessed by the Undying Aentaros).
Shire went on to establish a single
global nation that developed into the galactic Ranshi Empire.
(Cable II#78 (fb) - BTS) - Kriven was part of Malan's group of Ranshi Empire soldiers. Malan and his team worked with Captain Holdyne for 10 years. Holdyne considered them to be the best troops in the Empire.
(Cable II#78) - Ten years later, after the Ranshi
Empire had traveled to the past of Earth-616 to stop a group of
time-traveling Earth-22073 Harmonists,
(Cable II#78) - Kriven was a member of the crew of the Conquest, the Ranshi Empire ship that
traveled back from the year 4004 in
Reality-2775 to modern day Earth-616, near a point of divergence between their reality and that of Reality-22073 (Harmony).
As Malan's group was changing into Earth-616 clothing to blend in, Kriven remarked that it was hard to believe they would be walking and talking to "barbarians dead for two thousand years." One of the other soldiers responded, saying that Kriven might bump into some of her ancestors and that one never knew what might happen on a mission such as theirs. Stifling that talk, Malan reminded his agents that they knew what was expected of them and that they were to become one with locals; he further warned them that if they were detected, the knowledge that the past was being altered by the future could shatter the nature of reality itself. When one of his agents asked how they would explain the Eliminators, Malan clarified that the Eliminators would be only used against the Harmonists under his direct command and that the "barbarians" would never see a thing.
Once ready, Kriven and the other soldiers were reminded
of their mission to blend in and remain undetected by Malan, who
revealed that he would send Eliminator robots to handle the Harmonists
discreetly. Kriven and the others then reported to Captain Holdyne and
Controller Sandella that they were ready to depart, who ordered Malan's
group to find the time-travelers and capture them if possible, kill
them if otherwise. As Kriven and the troops left, Controller Sandella
remarked to Captain Holdyne that they would now see if Malan's elite
team was as good as Holdyne claimed they were.
(Cable II#79) - Six months later...
(Cable II#79 (fb) - BTS) - Presumably in preparation for potential combat, Kriven wore her Ranshi uniform under an overcoat (and presumably used some disguise technology or perhaps a mutant ability (see comments) to appear as a blonde, white woman).
(Cable II#79) - As two of the Ranshi tracked Cable,
one them confirmed their target to the source of the
chronotropic energy they had detected, although they wrongly assumed
him to be a Harmonist and were not aware that he was Cable (the Ranshi were aware that a man known as Cable was the nexus point of the divergence).
Malan(?) noted that they had set up their ambush
in an abandoned warehouse on the next block, and that Kriven would
serve as the bait. Malan stressed that they wanted to be certain that the
target was alone and that they must be certain that he could neither
escape nor warn his friends of their presence in this time period, as
they wanted to remain undiscovered as long as possible.
Rushing into an alley, Kriven called out for
help, and Cable followed her through a doorway that sealed as soon as
he passed through it. Kriven presumably was transported elsewhere, as she was not seen within the room after Cable's arrival.
(Cable II#79 - BTS) - As a number of Eliminators confronted Cable, Malan (presumably, see comments) told him to surrender or die. Cable fought his way past the robots and confronted the armored agent, advising him to explain or be decapitated. Appreciating Cable to be a mutant, which meant he was not a Harmonist (as mutation had been eliminated in that reality), the Ranshi agent teleported away, and the Eliminators (and almost certainly the rest of his team, although they were not shown) vanished with him, leaving a confused Cable wondering what had just happened.
(Cable I#80 - BTS) - Malan reported back to Captain Holdyne and
Controller Sandella of his failure. Opting to give Malan's team another chance but warning
that she would not tolerate a second failure, Controller Sandella
ordered Malan to find this mystery man.
(Cable I#80) - Shortly thereafter, Kriven armored up alongside Malan, Captain Holdyne and another of Malan's team before transporting into Manhattan in the midst of battle between Cable and an Aentaros-controlled Blockade.
(Cable I#81 - BTS) - Captain Holdyne, Malan, Kriven
and another managed to capture Cable using stun weapons on maximum
strength within moments and teleport back to the airborne Ranshi Empire
ship before any impact to the timeline could be made.
As Sandella questioned her captive, Malan -- having scanned the vids of their mission -- rushed in
and informed Sandella that right before they had appeared, one of their
captive's opponents had called him "Cable."
Comments: Created by Joe Pruett, Juan Santacruz, Michael Ryan and Andrew Pepoy.
Kriven was not seen/identified in the subsequent issues, but she was
presumably back aboard the Conquest and participated in the assault on
the Harmonist ship in Cable II#82, as well as being forced to ally with
the Harmonists after they lost contact with their realities (and
believed them to have been eliminated) as shown in Cable II#83-84.

Kriven is very different in appearance between
Cable II#78 and #79. The character in the trenchcoat looks more like
the woman in the group image who is in some sort of pink sports bra and
putting her hair up. However, the woman with darker hair and skin who
is removing her Ranshi costume is clearly identified as Kriven, as is
the woman in the trenchcoat. It makes sense that Kriven was using a disguise of some sort (more on that below).

While Kriven never displayed any mutant powers,
Controller Sandella of the Ranshi Empire mentioned in Cable I#82 that
mutants ruled the Ranshi Empire, thereby establishing that Kriven must
be a mutant of some kind. In Cable I#80's last page, Kriven's eyes
appear to be white but whether this was related to any superhuman
powers she might've had or if it was just a coloring error remains to
be determined.
I don't think the fact that mutants ruled the empire
meant that all of them were mutants. Sandella Ranshi had some weak intuition power that
couldn't even tell her that Cable was Cable, but I didn't see anyone else using
any super powers.
Then again, perhaps Kriven was a mutant, and her
power was being something of a metamorph, allowing her to change her
appearance to some degree.

Because Malan led the mission on Earth, I
assumed that the armored agent who waited with the Eliminators to
ambush Cable was Malan. In re-re-re-re-reviewing the issues, I
appreciated that that agent was not identified, so it could be another
agent under Malan's direction. However, since that being made the
decision to abort the mission, it would seem like he was in a position
of authority. I would think that it was Malan until proven otherwise.
