History:
(Daredevil IV#8 (fb) - BTS) - Kirsten McDuffie spent time growing up in California with her father, Wendell McDuffie, a prominent and self-made book publisher.

(Daredevil IV#15 (fb) - BTS) - When Kirsten's mother died, Kirsten was drinking in a bar, something Kirsten carried shame over.

(Daredevil IV#8 (fb) - BTS) - Kirsten had a falling out with Wendell, and Kirsten grew annoyed when he married Dana, a younger woman.

(Daredevil III#1 (fb) - BTS) - Kirsten went on to become an Assistant District Attorney in New York City.

(Daredevil IV#13 (fb) - BTS) - In one of her most famous cases as Assistant District Attorney, Kirsten prosecuted the serial killer known as the Lilac Murderer and saw him put away for life.

(Daredevil III#1 (fb) - BTS) - Kirsten heard about Matt Murdock, who was alleged to be Daredevil, opening a new practice. Hearing that he took the case of Ahmed Jobrani, she watched as a judge ordered Jobrani to find new counsel.

(Daredevil III#1) - McDuffie approached Matt Murdock on the roof of the courthouse and bantered with him, though she refused to believe he wasn't Daredevil, teasing him that even her nephew who believed in Santa thought he was Daredevil. After warning Murdock that he was going to struggle to get cases, she encouraged him to investigate who was behind Jobrani's struggles, throwing a hairpin at Matt's forehead for emphasis.

(Daredevil III#2) - McDuffie delivered intel (a psychiatric evaluation) on the Ahmed Jobrani case to Foggy Nelson, and asked him to pass it on to "Daredevil", then she helped Foggy find his lucky tie.

(Daredevil III#5) - Foggy slept over at Kirsten's apartment, as he was dating her roommate Dina. Foggy and Kirsten bantered about Matt being Daredevil, and he challenged Kirsten to go out with Matt to find out for herself if he was really blind. Kirsten ended up asking for Matt's number.

(Daredevil III#7) - Kirsten showed up at a holiday party hosted by Murdock and Nelson, and she continued teasing Murdock about being Daredevil. Kirsten asked Matt out on a date that weekend, but he was taking volunteering by taking some troubled kids on a trip.

(Amazing Spider-Man I#677) - Matt and Kirsten were walking and discussing cases, and Kirsten kept teasing him about being Daredevil. Spider-Man showed up to ask Matt for help, and Kirsten laughed at Matt's pathetic attempts to pretend to be blind.

(Daredevil III#9) - Kirsten patiently waited for Matt to text her.

(Daredevil III#12 (fb) - BTS) - Kirsten continued to taunt Matt at times, hitting him with small objects and once exposing her bra, which read "You Are Daredevil".

(Daredevil III#12) - Kirsten and Matt finally went on a date to Coney Island, and Kirsten wore a blindfold so Matt could show her what his world was like. Matt told Kirsten all about his college days with Foggy, and about the day they had taken down corrupt professor Leopold York. Kirsten kissed Matt, but then a Black Spectre agent (secretly Spider-Man) mystically showed up, vowing to come after Daredevil.

(Daredevil III#13) - Kirsten was stunned by the Black Spectre agent, but Matt told her to get some sleep and then rushed off. Kirsten later watched Daredevil get defeated by Black Spectre (secretly the Avengers) online.

(Daredevil III#14) - Foggy (with Kuljit) checked in with Kirsten, talking about Matt being missing. Kirsten admitted she didn't have much patience for deception.

(Daredevil III#20 (fb) - BTS) - A story about Kirsten going out with Matt appeared in a tabloid, and district attorney Cyrus Badger warned Kirsten about the publicity this could bring.

(Daredevil III#18) - Matt returned after being gone over a week and went out with Kirsten. Matt claimed that Daredevil had cleaned up a messy situation for him and that Foggy had fired him from the office. Kirsten walked Matt home, but he rushed inside suddenly, leaving her outside.

(Daredevil III#19) - Foggy, drunk, called Kirsten to the bar and admitted to her that Matt was Daredevil and that he'd gone crazy. Kirsten, given her job, felt she had no choice but to issue a manhunt for Daredevil, to maintain public safety.

(Daredevil III#20) - Kirsten interrupted a meeting between district attorney Cyrus Badger, police chief Danforth, and Senator Mayright, but the three men just laughed at her for having dated Daredevil then showed her out.

(Daredevil III#21) - Kirsten reached out to Spider-Man, asking him to look into Daredevil's potential madness. She was surprised when Spider-Man (who was now Otto Octavius) said he would crush Daredevil.

(Daredevil III#23 (fb) - BTS) - Kirsten avoided Matt's calls, even after Foggy assured her he had overreacted about Matt and said Matt wasn't crazy.

(Daredevil III#24) - Kirsten was on a date with Jake at a climbing wall when Matt showed up to talk to her, climbing the wall without a harness brazenly. Kirsten explained that she had no interest in being a bit player in Daredevil's life and she walked away from him.

(Daredevil III#27) - Kirsten worked quietly in her office while Spider-Man watched out for her at Matt's request.

(Daredevil III#31 (fb) - BTS) - Foggy hired Kirsten to take his place at the office.

(Daredevil III#30 (fb) - BTS) - Kirsten quit her job at the district attorney and went to Murdock's law office to help him run it, since Foggy was in the hospital.

(Daredevil III#30) - Kirsten gave the staff instructions, including to finish the deposition on the Anselmo case and to put calls from Judge McNider through but not Judge McKnight. Matt rushed off after hearing a strange sound.

(Daredevil III#31) - At the office, Kirsten told Matt the verdict was in on the Bainwood trial, where a woman had been accused of killing an unarmed black teen. When the woman was found not guilty, the district attorney James Priest seemingly publicly revealed the names and addresses of the Bainwood Jury, though it had actually been the Sons of the Serpent hijacking the media feed. Daredevil rushed off to intervene.

(Daredevil: Dark Nights#4) - Kirsten McDuffie, with Harold Jenkins, questioned Michael Rochelle, a man she believed had been hired by Frank Milo to murder Councilwoman Stevens. She ordered bailiff Keith to bring Rochelle to Judge Wilson's courtroom, then was shocked to see Matt waiting outside, there to help legally advise Rochelle, who Matt believed was innocent. Harold dropped the box of evidence and cried out that a tiny man had stolen the murder weapon, a gun. Kirsten soon identified the man as Buggit, and she told Matt so when he called, pursuing Buggit as Daredevil. Later, she checked in with Daredevil, informing him that Michael Rochelle had been let go and was returning home. Daredevil assured her that Michael was innocent.

(Daredevil: Dark Nights#5) - At the police station, Kirsten saw that two cops and Michael Rochelle had been killed, and Michael's wife Sara was being tended to. Daredevil called to tell her that Frank Milo was behind it all, but that Buggit was on his way to kill Milo, and he asked Kirsten to help get Milo protections. Kirsten showed up to get Milo and his men, including Tony, to safety, but Daredevil warned her that Buggit was already there with the bomb. Kirsten took Sara there to help convince Buggit to turn himself in, then a giant monster fell in the streets, defeated by the Avengers.

(Daredevil III#34) - Kirsten was out jogging when Matt revealed he was Daredevil by showing off his skills while stopping a mugging. Matt then asked for Kirsten's help in taking down the Sons of the Serpent. Matt's friend Nate Hackett helped with a satellite installation. Kirsten continued speaking after Daredevil departed, inspiring civilians to turn against the Sons of the Serpent. When Kirsten was nearly shot, Nate saved her life, taking her to Daredevil for safety. Daredevil embraced Kirsten, commending her on the speech she'd given.

(Daredevil III#35) - Forced by the Sons of the Serpent to represent Robert Ogilvy in court, Matt Murdock got Kirsten to agree to take the case. Kirsten called Matt as her first witness, and he abruptly admitted on the stand that he was Daredevil.

(Daredevil III#36) - In the courtroom, Kirsten questioned Matt about his lengthy history as Daredevil, and all of the problems and lies that had meant over the years. As Matt gave testimony, he and Kirsten realized that Judge Jason Pierce was a member of the Sons of the Serpent. A squad of armed Serpents attacked and one pointed a gun at Kirsten, but she stomped on his foot with her heel and got away, then Daredevil defeated the villains, who were soon arrested. Matt and Foggy both got word that they had been disbarred, and Kirsten recommended that Matt relocate to San Francisco, where he used to live, to keep practicing the law there.

(Daredevil IV#5 (fb)) - Matt and Kirsten attended the fake funeral for Foggy Nelson, as Foggy had faked his death to focus on his cancer treatment.

(Daredevil IV#0.1) - Kirsten met Matt for a flight out to San Francisco. The plane hit terrible turbulence and had to land in Wisconsin. At the airport, Matt rushed off to pursue a suspicious passenger. Later, Kirsten picked him up in an exotic car rental and got them back on track to San Francisco.

(Daredevil IV#1 (fb) - BTS) - In San Francisco, Kirsten got her law license and agreed to open an office with Matt. They worked with deputy mayor Charlotte "Charlie" Hastert to get the office approved.

(Daredevil IV#1) - When Daredevil saved Charlie's daughter, Chelsea Hastert, from kidnappers, Kirsten helped him navigate through the city remotely, then he rushed Chelsea to the hospital, where Charlotte had explosive material removed from her system. Days later, Charlie got the office opened.

(Daredevil IV#2) - Kirsten and Matt had Charlie Hastert over, and Charlie informed them that the Owl was in town. Charlie told him about the Shroud plaguing police as well, and Kirsten looked up the Shroud's history, then Matt heard Shroud on the roof and went to confront him. As Daredevil went off with the Shroud, Charlie returned to work, commending Kirsten on her good work. Charlie stated she wished she'd met Foggy before he died.

(Daredevil IV#3) - The next day at Kirsten's office, Kirsten and Charlie were discussing Matt being gone all night on a mission when Foggy Nelson came in in disguise, infuriating Kirsten who rushed Charlie out the door. Kirsten yelled at Foggy for the risk he'd put himself in, then Matt called, needing Kirsten's help in setting up a plan against the Owl.

(Daredevil IV#4) - Out for Italian food, Murdock told Kirsten about the threats of the Shroud and the Owl, stopping to take photos with fans who approached him.

(Daredevil IV#8 (fb) - BTS) - Kirsten grew annoyed at customers at the law practice who only wanted Daredevil to represent them. Kirsten grew quietly frustrated by the lack of billable hours, given Daredevil's frequent super hero activities. Kirsten's father and his wife invited Matt and Kirsten out on a boating venture.

(Daredevil IV#8) - Kirsten took Matt to the zoo, fascinated by how his powers worked in distinguishing animals from each other. Matt agreed to go with Kirsten to meet her dad and his wife. Kirsten was annoyed as Dana flirted with Matt aboard her sailboat for hours, then Wendell joined them, serving wine and oysters. Kirsten was just starting to relax when Wendell said he had a business venture for Matt, publishing his autobiography, and he offered an advance of eight million dollars. Matt and Kirsten left and Kirsten worried Matt was falling under Wendell's spell. She relayed a message from Hastert asking for Daredevil.

(Daredevil IV#9) - On a walk with a disguised Foggy, Kirsten and Matt discussed ideas regarding Matt's book. Soon, Matt rushed off into action as Daredevil.

(Daredevil IV#10) - Kirsten, who had the office sign changed to reflect Matt's identity as Daredevil, was going over their bills and talking to Wendell on the phone when Matt returned with wounds, having fought the Purple Man and the Purple Kids. Kirsten noticed right away that he wasn't himself and that he seemed depressed and conflicted. Later, Matt lied to her about being okay and he briefly shut her out, but he changed his mind and opened up to her about his feelings.

(Daredevil IV#11 (fb) - BTS) - Matt decided to go ahead with the memoir.

(Daredevil IV#15 (fb) - BTS) - In an intimate moment, Kirsten opened up to Matt about her guilt regarding her mother's death.

(Daredevil IV#11) - Kirsten and Foggy worked with Matt to make sure he was telling the most accurate version of his story in his memoir. Matt and Kirsten met with client George Smith, the former Stunt-Master, and he wanted to sue Leveron Pharmacies, who had a contract with Smith and had then chosen to advertise a new Stunt-Master. While they couldn't find much wiggle room in the contract, Matt and Kirsten agreed to take a look at it. Hearing that the new Stunt-Master was using the name "Man Without Fear", Matt was annoyed, but he chose not to investigate until he'd heard that Smith had committed suicide.

(Daredevil IV#12) - After facing off with the Stunt-Master, Daredevil exposed that Smith was alive, and Smith was rushed to the hospital, where Kirsten joined him. She soon realized that Smith was behind the Stunt-Master ruses and that he'd been not only lying about his motives, but he'd been taking chemicals to block Matt's abilities to detect lies. Smith tried taking Kirsten hostage, but she used self-defense to knock him back, and Daredevil soon defeated him. In the aftermath, Matt told Kirsten he loved her for the first time.

(Superior Iron Man#4 (fb) - BTS) - Kirsten got word that Matt was in the hospital and she rushed to his side.

(Superior Iron Man#4) - As Tony Stark left the hospital room, Kirsten entered to check on Matt.

(Daredevil IV#13 (fb) - BTS) - Matt tried telling Kirsten that he was worried some foe would come after her, but she shut the conversation down. She soon found out that Wendell had put bodyguards on her tail.

(Daredevil IV#13) - Kirsten and Matt went on a long date and fell asleep on the beach together. Kirsten met with Wendell, confronting him about the bodyguards, just before the room was flooded with knockout gas. Kirsten was taken to the tunnels under the building, and she found herself sitting on hundreds of lilacs. The Lilac Murderer drew blades and threatened Kirsten, who briefly escaped but he knocked her down again. Daredevil arrived and assumed that the villain was one of his. The Lilac Murderer fled only to be defeated in the darkness by the Shroud. Kirsten teased Matt about how this had been her adversary not his.

(Daredevil IV#15.1 (fb)) - Foggy, Kirsten (eating Dungeness crab), and Matt worked on his book, and Matt recounted some of his old memories as Daredevil.

(Daredevil IV#14 (fb)) - Wendell rented out Giants' stadium to hit a few balls, and Kirsten and Matt met him there to discuss the completion of the book. Wendell gave Matt the idea to be Daredevil without the mask, and Kirsten was nervous they were tempting fate. She soon saw Matt get a haircut.

(Daredevil IV#14) - Kirsten and her client waited nervously for Matt to show up before the judge in court, and soon he entered wearing a red tie, jacket, and pants, announcing "Daredevil for the defense." Later, Kirsten took a call from Hastert, telling Daredevil about a villain problem she needed help with.

(Daredevil IV#15) - The Shroud publicly released Kirsten's private confessional about her mother to Matt in order to distract Daredevil during a fight. He also revealed that Foggy Nelson was alive, and many details from the private lives of Matt and Kirsten's clients. After Wendell confronted Kirsten, she went into seclusion with Foggy. Matt checked on him, then he was determined to go to the Kingpin for help.

(Daredevil IV#16) - Foggy and Kirsten remained in hiding as he confided he was expecting a call from his oncologist to let him know how long he had left.

(Daredevil IV#17 (fb) - BTS) - Ikari kidnapped both Foggy and Kirsten and took them to the Kingpin, where they were kept in electronic collars.

(Daredevil IV#17) - Kingpin and Ikari soon placed the captive Julia Carpenter with Foggy and Kirsten. When Matt arrived, he was horrified to see his friends held there. Kingpin had guns held to the heads of Foggy and Kirsten and he ordered Ikari to battle Matt to the death, promising to kill one of Matt's friends if Matt won the fight.

(Daredevil IV#18) - Still captive with Foggy and Julia, Kirsten saw Ikari enter holding Daredevil's mask, claiming to have killed him. As Ikari bragged about Murdock's death, Foggy lashed out against one of the Kingpin's guards, and Ikari revealed he was Matt Murdock in disguise and began fighting the Kingpin. Matt took down Kingpin by having Shroud publicly reveal all of the Kingpin's assets, then he helped Foggy, Kirsten, and Julia escape. Matt and Kirsten had to close their law practice due to their disruption in practice. Later, they found out Foggy was completely cancer free, and Kirsten made him a terrible pizza to celebrate. Wendell joined them, ready to launch the book, but Matt cried out how he didn't want to put his loved ones in danger anymore. Foggy and Kirsten cheered him up, and Matt went out to announce his book.

(Daredevil V#17 (fb)) - Kirsten found Matt awake at night, and he expressed that he was struggling with only being Daredevil and having given up the law. They embraced and fell back asleep, then woke up with Typhoid Mary in their bed. Matt told Kirsten to run as Mary set the place on fire; Mary was defeated, but Matt and Kirsten's home burnt down. Kirsten hugged Matt, saying they could probably profit from the insurance. They went back to New York for a time, and the media were there waiting to greet Daredevil. Kirsten encouraged Matt to go out and be Daredevil, but reminded him they had dinner reservations that evening. Matt and Kirsten returned to San Francisco, and he wanted to rent a place, but she insisted on staying in hers, not wanting to hide. Then the Purple Children (Shallah and Joe) showed up at her door.

(Daredevil V#18 (fb)) - The Purple Children rushed inside and hid in the panic room with Kirsten while Daredevil knocked out the mob sent after them by the Purple Man. Matt told Kirsten to call 911, then he went off with the Purple Children to find Killgrave.

(Daredevil V#19 (fb)) - Matt returned to the apartment under the control of the Purple Man. Kirsten was worried but Matt didn't even seem to notice her there as he walked away with the villain.

(Daredevil V#20 (fb) - BTS) - The Purple Children used mind control to make the world forget that Matt Murdock and Daredevil were the same, and only Daredevil could correct that by coming clean about his identity. Kirsten's mind rewrote their entire history, telling her that she was in a relationship with Matt Murdock who was colleagues with Daredevil.

(Daredevil V#20 (fb)) - Daredevil showed up at Kirsten's home, where she was cleaning up the mess from the attack. She told him that Matt wasn't there, shocking Daredevil, and he tried putting his hand on her face to reason with her. Offended, Kirsten asked Daredevil to leave. Matt later returned and broke up with Kirsten, rather than revealing the truth about himself, as he believed she was in danger with him. He said he was returning to New York City without her. Kirsten, heartbroken, told him to get out.

(Daredevil V#11 (fb) - BTS) - Kirsten talked to Foggy, expressing how hurt she was about the abrupt break-up.

(Man Without Fear#2) - After Matt was nearly killed after being hit by a truck, Kirsten visited him, expressing how much she'd loved him and how she forgave him for the past and wanted a fresh start. She promised to be there for him no matter what hardships lay ahead. Kirsten told Matt she had business in upstate New York for two days, and that she'd be back to take care of him. When Kirsten returned a few days later, Matt rebuffed her, and she rushed from the room in tears.

(Daredevil VI#22 (fb) - BTS) - Kirsten heard that Daredevil had been arrested for murder. She called Foggy to offer to work on his case.

(Daredevil VI#22) - Kirsten arrived in New York City, shocking Daredevil.

(Daredevil VI#23) - Kirsten built a case with Foggy to represent Daredevil in trial, but she wanted to know where Matt Murdock was. Foggy soon called "Matt" in (actually the Mike Murdock construct).

(Daredevil VI#24) - Kirsten grew annoyed with "Matt" for not pulling his weight, then grew more frustrated when he tried flirting with her. Later, Daredevil admitted to Kirsten that he had tried working out a deal with the prosecutor, Robert "Goldy" Goldman, but he now realized that he needed to fight the charges. Kirsten, emphasizing that she was over Matt, told Daredevil she was glad he was fighting, then she walked him through the line of protestors and reporters and into the courthouse. However, once the trial began, Daredevil pled guilty to second-degree manslaughter.

(Daredevil VI#25 (fb)) - As Daredevil was arrested, Kirsten walked away.

(Daredevil VI#30) - After Daredevil was stabbed in prison, Kirsten went to visit him with Foggy Nelson, and they were joined by Cole North and FBI Agent Kesbeh. Kesbeh wanted Daredevil to get her intel on prison owner David Deavers, and Daredevil agreed to help, but refused her deal to get out of prison early.

(Daredevil VI#33) - Hearing that the prison was on lockdown, Kirsten rushed there, worried about Daredevil, and was shocked when the cops shot out her headlights. She found Cole North there with the police, and Daredevil called for North to be sent in alone.

(Daredevil VI#34) - As the cops swarmed the prison, Kirsten worried about Daredevil and placed a call to Foggy, but she then found Daredevil in her car, asking to be taken into the city.

(Daredevil VI#35) - Kirsten delivered Daredevil to Times Square, where he helped the other Daredevil (Elektra Natchios) defeat Bullseye. Kirsten consulted with Cole North, learning that Daredevil had exposed the prison system of drugging prisoners, and she helped Daredevil avoid being arrested again.

(Daredevil VI#36 (fb) - BTS) - When Daredevil surrendered to the police, Kirsten began working on his case. Within five weeks, she got him out of jail with no parole given the complications of his imprisonment.

(Daredevil VI#36) - Kirsten and Foggy picked Daredevil up from prison, but he left with Elektra instead.

(Devil's Reign#3 (fb) - BTS) - When the Kingpin, mayor of New York, had heroes arrested, Kirsten and Foggy represented the heroes in court.

(Devil's Reign#3) - Kirsten met with the Invisible Woman in prison, agreeing to represent her after she'd defended herself by an assault from prisoners.

(Devil's Reign#4) - Kirsten went to see Foggy in the hospital, where she saw Daredevil vulnerable, she surprised him by kissing him.

(Devil's Reign#5) - Hearing about a prisoner uprising at the Myrmidon, Kirsten called Daredevil to inform him, and announced her intent to get Matt Murdock involved, since Foggy was in the hospital. Kirsten went to find Matt, but found Kingpin beating Mike Murdock nearly to death inside.

(Devil's Reign#6 (fb) - BTS) - Kirsten called Daredevil to tell him Mike was dead.

(Devil's Reign Omega#1) - Kirsten gave the eulogy at Matt Murdock's funeral. Later, she placed a shiny object in the coffin with "Matt".

(Daredevil VII#1) - Kirsten McDuffie left town, and Daredevil never said goodbye. As he watched her train depart, it exploded, with Kirsten potentially on it, making Matt believe she was dead.

(Daredevil VII#2) - Daredevil discovered that Kirsten had survived and he grabbed her, telling her that he loved her, forgetting she no longer knew about his identity. Kirsten told the hero to slow down, then walked away.

Comments: Created by Mark Waid, Paolo Rivera & Joe Rivera.

Matt Murdock is a flawed character, and his flaws show up most consistently with the women he loves. Karen Page, Elektra Natchios and Glorianna O'Breen were murdered; Heather Glenn committed suicide; Milla Donovan ended up in a mental institution; only Nyla Skin and Kirsten McDuffie made it out alive, and that is mostly because Matt lied to them a whole bunch.

Kirsten McDuffie overall is a delightful character, and I hope to see her return to the books.
