History:
(Our Love Story#5/2 (fb) - BTS) - Mindy Nelson fell
in love with social worker Allan Stone, who was passionate about
helping disadvantaged fellow African Americans. However, Mindy wanted
to have fun and became frustrated with Stone's work focus; she confided
in her brother Skip that she thought Stone was a bit "square" because of this.
(Our Love Story#5/2) - After Skip let it slip to
Stone that Mindy thought he wasn't hip, the couple lost contact for a
short while. Mindy took up cool guy Duke Dunphy's invitation to go
dancing, but both realized she was still too focused on Stone to enjoy
herself. Both Mindy and Stone still longed for each other. But soon
Skip was arrested; although not joining in, his friends broke into a
store. Distraught, Mindy called Stone, who quickly documented a
testimony defending Skip. Mindy sat in Juvenile Court as the judge ruled not
guilty and embraced Stone. On the drive home, Mindy declared she wanted
to work with Stone in his office and grow their love together.
Comments: Created by Stan Lee, Gene Colan, John Romita.
Unfortunately, this is one of only a handful of
non-white central characters from the romance comics.
These romance stories often had the flavor of the time in which they were written, and nothing else to tie them into Marvel's sliding timescale. As such, it's likely that the stories took place at the time of publication rather than being part of the sliding timescale.

When Mindy Nelson sought a fun time and a contrast to
her work-focused boyfriend Allan Stone, she accepted cool guy Duke
Dunphy's invitation to go out. He took her dancing but he realized she
was still hung up
on Stone. Dropping her home, Dunphy told her Stone was the right man
for her.
--Our Love Story#5/2
Skip Nelson was Mindy's younger brother, but he would
sometimes miss school. Case worker Allan Stone found him one time and
Skip let slip that his sister thought Stone was a bit "square", which
seemed to deter Stone from further dates with Skip's sister Mindy. But
about a week later, Skip was with friends who whimsically broke into a
store. Although innocent, he was picked up by police with the others.
Panicked, Mindy contacted Stone, who worked tirelessly to present
Skip's case at the Juvenile Court. Skip was acquitted.
--Our Love Story#5/2
Passionate social worker Allan Stone worked at the
Family Service Bureau and has a good knowledge of state laws. He was in
a relationship with Mindy Nelson, but she was frustrated that his work
left him with little time for fun. Stone found out that she thought him
a bit "square" because of this and the two became distant for a short
while, although both still longed for each other. However, when Mindy's
brother Skip was arrested because his friends had broken into a store,
he quickly put together a case for the Juvenile Court that acquitted
Skip. Mindy embraced Stone, their relationship back on track. Stone was
very happy to hear that Mindy hoped to work in Stone's office.
