History: (X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "A Rogue's Tale" - BTS) - Pyro joined the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants alongside Avalanche, Blob, Mystique and Mystique's foster child Rogue. (X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "A Rogue's Tale" (fb) ) - For years, Pyro and the Brotherhood helped Mystique train Rogue, helping her learn how to use her abilities and steal people's memories. During one such occasion Rogue used her abilities on Pyro after which she created a fire, shaped in the form of a small dog. Unbeknownst to Rogue the Brotherhood was really training her to permanently deal with Mystique's arch-nemesis Ms. Marvel. Then the day arrived when Pyro and the Brotherhood broke into an airplane hangar, soon attracting the attention of Ms. Marvel who easily dealt with the Brotherhood after which she went after Rogue. Forced by Mystique, Rogue used her powers on Ms. Marvel long enough to permanently steal her powers and render the hero comatose. Curious to find out who Ms. Marvel really was Pyro unmasked the hero, although none of them recognized her. (X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "A Rogue's Tale" (fb) ) - In the weeks that followed, Pyro and the others learned that Rogue not only acquired Ms. Marvel's super strength and ability to fly but also had Danvers' mind trapped inside her causing her unrivaled pain. In the end Rogue fled the Brotherhood and found Charles Xavier who helped her trap Danvers' soul inside her mind. (X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Slave Island" - BTS) - Along many other mutants, Pyro was apprehended and imprisoned on Genosha. Outfitted with power-dampening collars to prevent them from using their mutant abilities the imprisoned mutants were made to work as slave-workers to complete a dam which would power a Sentinel factory. (X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Slave Island") - Pyro, Blob, Northstar and other slave-workers were in for a shock when three of the X-Men: Storm, Gambit and Jubilee were also imprisoned and forced to work alongside them. However, when the Magistrates deactivated the collars Storm immediately tried to escape and was quickly rendered immobile by a Sentinel and placed in the "box" (isolation). Not long after, the slave-workers once again stopped work when the Magistrates noticed a fire in the nearby forest (courtesy of time traveler Cable), to be safe all slave-workers were returned to their cells. (X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Slave Island" - BTS) - The following day, Gambit acquired the power-dampening collar's key, freed his friends and together agreed to free the slave-workers. (X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Slave Island") - Pyro, Domino, Warpath and many other slave-workers were shocked when the X-Men returned, successfully deactivating the power-dampening collars. Freed, Pyro and the others joined the X-Men in their fight against the Magistrates and Sentinels. Having defeated them, Jubilee urged the former slaves to help them deal with the Sentinel factory. Sunfire, speaking for the former slaves refused reminding her of their last failed uprising and explained they would take over Genosha as a whole after which they left. To deal with the Sentinel factory, Storm then summoned a powerful storm causing the dam to collapse and destroy the factory. (X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "The Cure" (fb) - BTS) - Pyro, now working with Avalanche was asked to meet Mystique on Muir Island. Unbeknownst to Pyro and Avalanche, Mystique had been working with Apocalypse who she considered her master and helped him to create a machine which would make mutants into Apocalypse's slaves. Mystique then posed as Gottfried Adler, a scientist famous for having created the power-dampening collars used in Genosha and announced to the world he'd been working on a cure for mutants. (X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "The Cure") - Pyro and Avalanche waited for Mystique in a local pub, unsure of how the shapeshifter would look they noticed X-Man Rogue (looking for the mutant cure herself) enter the pub, suspecting her to be Mystique he approached her. Pyro took a seat next to Rogue after which he revealed his control over fire and asked if she was in the mood for a "hot" date. Unimpressed by his charm, Rogue simply threw Pyro through the pub's brick wall and Avalanche into the sea. (X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Days of Future Past - Part II" (fb) - BTS) - Acting on Apocalypse's orders the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants gathered near Capitol Hill, Washington in preparations to assassinate Senator Robert Kelly during a senate hearing. (X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Days of Future Past - Part II") - Learning the X-Men were present during the senate hearing, Pyro, Blob and Avalanche were sent to create a diversion so Mystique could kill Kelly. To do so, Pyro, Blob and Avalanche mingled amongst the human protesters who'd gathered on Capitol Hill after which they attacked the senate. Their plan worked as Pyro and the others were immediately attacked by the X-Men, using his control over fire to create several fiery birds to fight the X-Men with. The assassination attempt, however, was foiled by Rogue, Gambit and the time-traveling Bishop of Earth-31393 (trying to prevent his horrible future from happening). (X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "A Rogue's Tale") - In an attempt to help Mystique recruit Rogue into the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, Pyro, Blob and Avalanche gathered at a carnival, wreaking havoc to catch the attention of the X-Men. During the fight Mystique used her shapeshifting abilities to turn into Carol Danvers to reawaken the unresolved trauma in Rogue as she had stolen Danvers' powers for herself years past. While the X-Men took care of Rogue, the Brotherhood fled. Later that night Mystique, posing as Danvers, led Rogue to Midtown Hospital where the real Carol Danvers had spent the last years comatose. Following Rogue, Storm also arrived at Midtown Hospital but was rendered unconsscious by Mystique and Blob. Comments: Created by Chris Claremont and John Byrne; Pyro was voiced by Graham Halley. Although Pyro is Australian this version was British, using mostly British slang. When, in 2015's Secret Wars, the Multiverse was destroyed following the incursions of planets it appeared as if Reality-92131 was drafted onto Battleworld as the Westchester domain. However, this has since been debunked. As such the reality seen in the two volumes of X-Men '92 (2015 and 2016-2017) now have their own reality-designation of Earth-15730. The X-Men '92: House of XCII (2022) series was inspired by both the animated series and Hickman's House of X run but is its own separate reality. The limited series X-Men '97 (2024), however, is Reality-92131 and bridges the gap between the original X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon and the new X-Men '97: The Animated Series cartoon. That night, the slave-workers were woken by the optimistic Jubilee, who escaped her cell and urged the mutants to join an uprising. Pyro and the others refused, believing they would be released when the work on the dam was finished. However, the following morning morale had shifted as the mutants told Jubilee they would join the uprising. Sadly Jubilee's uprising failed when she proved unable to deactivate the power-dampening collars.
Having regained consciousness Pyro made his way down to the cliffs in search of Avalanche and stumbled upon the time-traveling Cable who was searching for Gottfried Adler. Pyro then attacked Cable but was in turn hit in the chest and ended up in the water where he was then found by Avalanche. Reunited, the duo discussed a way to make some money on the side by kidnapping Adler, figuring he was in high demands, still unaware Mystique was posing as Adler. Pyro and Avalanche easily located "Adler" just as he was working on Rogue, while Avalanche used his abilities to trap Rogue under "Adler's" machine, Pyro trapped "Adler" in a burlap sack after which they made their escape. However, when the duo had reached the cliffs, Mystique revealed her true identity, thoroughly confusing Pyro and Avalanche. Mystique revealed she'd been working with Apocalypse to turn mutants into his slaves, after which she turned back into Adler after which Rogue located them. Believing the criminals to have captured Adler, Rogue attacked Pyro and Avalanche which allowed Mystique to flee. Supposedly having stopped Pyro and Avalanche, Rogue resumed her search for Adler and found him in the hands of Cable who was about to kill the man. Rogue stopped Cable.
The following morning the X-Men arrived only to be opposed by Pyro, Blob and Avalanche who were then easily defeated by the reawakened Storm. In the end Mystique proved unable to convince Rogue to return after which Jean Grey helped Rogue deal with Danvers' trapped soul in her mind.
