History: (Bizarre
Adventures II#1/3 (fb) -
BTS) - Just before the beginning of World War II, the Russoff Trio were
known as semi-popular musicians despite each being a bit of a
booze-hound. The group was secretly a band of werewolves and continued
taking musical gigs.
(Bizarre Adventures II#1/3 (fb)) - The Russoff Trio
were booked for a gig at the Radium Girl Lounge, where the vampire lord
Dracula visited after becoming intrigued with the young woman, Eveline
O'Reilly. After the Trio was introduced and began playing, Dracula
walked up to Eveline and asked if she was a fan of the Russoff Trio and
Eveline replied that he could say so, commenting that things tended to
get hairy when the Trio played. As Dracula soon learned that Eveline
O'Reilly was actually a member of the Van Helsing clan of vampire
hunters, the full moon caused the Russoff Trio to transform into
wolves. When the Trio began attacking the crowd, Eveline revealed that
she was there to kill the Russoff Trio and promised to destroy Dracula
after they teamed up to defeat the Russoffs. During the ensuing
scuffle, each of the Russoff Trio were downed and Eveline managed to
kill Renfield Russoff before departing, leaving behind a white rose for
Dracula.
Comments: Created by Becky Cloonan and Michael Conrad.
The surname "Russoff" suggests that the Russoff Trio might be somehow famially related to the lineage of Werewolf (Jack Russell), who was born Jacob Russoff. No actual relationship was mentioned in their only story, however.
At one point in the story, Dracula is speaking about how the Russoff Trio would fit in well within his castle and comments on how Renfield had been practicing on the piano. It was unclear if Dracula was referring to one of the Russoff Trio as Renfield or if he was referring to the Renfield who was under his thrall in the Dracula novel. It seems unlikely that it would be the Renfield from the novel, as Renfield is killed in the novel and this story takes place just before World War II. Therefore, for the purposes of this profile, I am treating Dracula's remarks as if he is referring to one of the Russoff Trio.
Stefan is wearing red-colored pants as a human but when he transforms into a wolf, the color of the pants somehow changes to blue.
Presumably, the Russoff Trio are all brothers but I
suppose it's equally possible that they were related some other way
(cousins, etc.).
