History: (Excalibur I#104 (fb) - BTS) - Selby joined the terrorist Mutant Liberation Front (MLF) and he was almost immediately utilized in the MLF's mission to steal data on the Legacy Virus from Muir Island.
(Excalibur I#104) - From a stealth
MLF ship, Selby reported to Moonstar about a ship leaving Muir Island
that housed two mutant signatures and a machine signature representing
Excalibur's Douglock. Moonstar responded by asking Selby if he had any
luck breaking through the tight beam satellite link and Selby
arrogantly remarked on how the link was impossible for any hacking
program (including NORAD) to translate except a mutant binary language
intuit like himself. Hacking through the link into Muir Island's
computers, Selby was asked by Moonstar if the Legacy Virus data was
present as their leak said it would be. Selby confirmed and mentioned
that he had also stumbled into something called the Xavier Protocols.
Looking into the Protocols data, Selby reported to Moonstar that the
Xavier Protocols were documents on various ways to kill the X-Men and
suggested the Protocols were definitely something to look into,
reminding Moonstar that they had six minutes until the rest of the MLF
was ready for their attack. Moonstar had Selby proceed with viewing the
Xavier Protocols. Selby then regrouped with the other MLF members for
an attack on Muir Island, which brought them into conflict with the
heroic Excalibur team. Selby was present when Wildside announced the
MLF's presence and Forearm demanded Muir Island's sensitive information
on the Legacy Virus. As members of the MLF battled Captain Britain and
Meggan, Selby made his way further into Muir Island with Moonstar as
Colossus and Pete Wisdom reported the invasion to Dr. Moira MacTaggert.
When Dr. MacTaggert attempted to use Muir Island's own security systems
against the MLF, Selby used his power to disable the Island's computers
and informed Dr. MacTaggert that their electronics would return to
normal once the MLF had gotten what they wanted. Selby then arrogantly
announced that the MLF would be seizing all of Dr. MacTaggert's Legacy
Virus data in the interests of liberating all mutants from the human
yoke. Moonstar then took over the discussion as Selby began hacking,
informing Dr. MacTaggert that she had become too publicly well-known
and that the integrity of Muir Island could no longer be trusted to
house the Legacy Virus data as well as the Xavier Protocols.

Strangely enough, Selby did not appear at all in
Excalibur I#105, which continued the story of the MLF vs. Excalibur
over the Legacy Virus. One has to wonder what happened to
him....perhaps he was abandoned by the rest of the MLF and arrested
along with the MLF generic soldiers present in the battle?
