History: (Dark Avengers I#10 (fb) - BTS) - To escape her roommate Veronica's ex-boyfriend, George Washington University student Betty Simpson traveled with Veronica across the country.
(Dark Avengers I#10) - Stopping in the small town of
Dinosaur, Colorado, Betty and Veronica visited the Dino Burger
restaurant to use the bathroom. Informed that the bathroom was in the
back and was only for paying customers, Betty ordered two cups of
coffee while Veronica went to the bathroom. When Betty asked how much
she owed for the coffee, a nearby man whispered for her to get out of
town. Confused, Betty asked if he was talking to her and then asked if
something was wrong before everyone in the restaurant turned a gray
color. Terrified, Betty called for Veronica as their car seemingly
disappeared outside. After Betty was missing for two days, her
Secretary of State father contacted Norman Osborn and requested he look
into the disappearance in Dinosaur, unaware of the
molecule-manipulating Molecule Man's presence in the town.
Comments: Created by Brian Michael Bendis and Mike Deodato.
I don't think it's just a coincidence that the two
college students that disappeared in Dinosaur, Colorado were named
Betty and Veronica. This seems like an obvious homage to the Archie
Comics characters Betty and Veronica.
