Able to fly at hundreds of miles per hour and to lift over a thousand pounds on the air currents, Skybreaker can also generate and control wind currents in small and vast amounts, including giving him the ability to take air out of someone's lungs (rendering them unconscious) or to form focused bursts of air that can hit with the precision of a bullet.
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 110 lbs.
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Reddish blonde
History: (Official
Handbook of the Marvel Universe: Deluxe Edition I#6 (fb) – BTS) –
The man who would become Aireo was subjected to Terrigenesis shortly
after
birth and he gained the ability to manipulate air currents.
Learning to fly on the air currents, he became a perimeter patrolman in
Attilan.
(Fantastic Four I#47) – The Fantastic Four saw
Aireo flying
over the Attilan and realized where the city had been hidden.
(Incredible Hulk II Annual#1 (fb) – BTS) – A group
of
Inhumans gathered together, seeking to overthrow Black Bolt as the
ruler of
Attilan, wanting to take over the city themselves. The group included
Aireo
the Floating Man, Stallior, Nebulo, Falcona, Leonus and Timberius. The
group
attacked the city but they were defeated.
(Incredible Hulk II Annual#1) – Aireo and his
allies were
put on trial, presided over by Black Bolt and the Oracle. When Stallior
tried
to turn on the others for his own gain, he was attacked by his allies,
with
Leonus out for blood. Black Bolt stopped the fight and, ignoring the
cries of
Maximus the Mad that Black Bolt should be the one on trial, the king
found the
six guilty and sentenced them to imprisonment in the Un-Place in
another
dimension behind an impenetrable shield. The group was shocked when
Lockjaw
later teleported the Hulk into the Un-Place as well. Hulk, refusing all
offers
of alliance from the imprisoned Inhumans, began smashing at the barrier
and
after several blows, smashed it, freeing the Inhumans along with him.
Maximus
the Mad teleported to the Un-Place and teleported the group back to
Attilan,
where he unleashed Hulk on the city while he took the others into his
secret
lab. After taking them through the lab, Maximus told them of the
ancient
scientist Romnar,
who had left behind a deadly weapon that was behind a strong barrier.
Maximus
hoped the Hulk could break through it and that he could use the weapon
to take
over Attilan. Maximus sent Nebulo (who punched Aireo to prove his worth
and
who demanded to be second in command to Maximus) to lure Hulk in and
Nebulo
gained Hulk's trust by grabbing a gun and shooting down a plane. Back
in the
lab, Hulk agreed to be friends with the Inhumans and he smashed the
barrier,
releasing Romnar's substance, which Maximus then weaponized. Maximus
demanded
control over the entire city and the Inhumans realized he was mad with
power.
Aireo seized the weapon and hit the Hulk with it while the others
seized
Maximus. When Hulk attacked the Inhumans, Aireo and his allies turned
on him,
hoping to win the favor of the city so they could seize control of it
as Black
Bolt defeated Maximus, destroying the weapon.
(Fantastic Four I#83 (fb) – BTS) – Maximus seized
control of
the Inhuman crown, imprisoning the Royal Family (Black Bolt, Triton,
Karnak, Gorgon)
while using science and hypnosis to keep control of Medusa and Lockjaw.
Maximus
managed to capture the Fantastic Four (Crystal, Human Torch, Mr.
Fantastic,
Thing) as well then made plans to conquer the world. Aireo, Stallior,
Leonus,
Falcona and Timberius continued serving him.
(Fantastic Four I#83) – Maximus had Aireo and the
others
attend to him in the baths then he forced them to bow after they
dressed him
for the day. Maximus prepared to activate the Hypno-Ray that would help
him
attack the human world but the Royal Family and Fantastic Four escaped
and
destroyed it. Maximus fled with his five allies then they boarded a
ship into
space to find freedom.
(Incredible Hulk II#119 (fb) – BTS) – Maximus took
Aireo and
the others back to Earth, where Nebulo rejoined the team. Maximus
hypnotized
the civilians of Costa Salvador, making them mindless slaves while he
took over
ruling the land. He planned to expand his power outward.
(Incredible Hulk II#119) – Hulk soon broke through
Maximus'
force field and the Inhumans attacked. Timberius restrained the monster
with
roots then Aireo lifted Hulk, preparing to drop him in quicksand, but
Hulk
broke free. When the American military attacked, Maximus invited Hulk
to join
them.
(Incredible Hulk II#120) – While the Hulk held off
the
military, the Inhumans fought amongst themselves about whether they
should turn
on the Hulk. Maximus was prepared to kill those in the military so Hulk
fought
back and Maximus unleashed a giant robot he'd developed. Hulk destroyed
the
robot and Maximus fled in a rocket with the Inhumans.
(Amazing Adventures II#1 (fb) –BTS) – Maximus set
up base on
a remote island, where he forced Aireo (whom he called Aeolus),
Stallior,
Leonus and Timberius to wait on him hand and foot. Maximus prepared
missiles
to send against the Royal Family in Attilan.
(Amazing Adventures II#1) – Aireo and his allies
tended to
Maximus while the missiles were launched.
(Amazing Adventures II#2) – Maximus manipulated
the Royal
Family into fighting the Fantastic Four as Aireo, Leonus, Stallior and
Timberius tended to him. Soon, Maximus was captured by the Royal
Family, who
defeated him and stopped the missiles.
(Silver Surfer I#18 (fb) – BTS)
– Maximus and his followers
were exiled from the city and forced to live on their own while Black
Bolt
controlled the Great Refuge.
(Silver Surfer I#18) – When Silver Surfer got
close to
Attilan, Maximus sent Aireo, Leonus, Stallior and Timberius against
him. Aireo
knocked Surfer off his board but Surfer easily recovered. Silver Surfer
sent
the Inhumans scrambling back to Attilan, where Maximus hoped to turn
Surfer
against Black Bolt. After Surfer fought the Royal Family, Maximus and
his
allies attacked Attilan in their airship, firing electron bolts on the
palace,
but the ship was soon repelled by the Royal Family.
(Inhumans I#5 (fb)) – Maximus and his allies,
including
Aireo and Makus, took over Attilan after capturing Crystal and
Quicksilver,
promising to kill them unless the populace surrendered.
(Inhumans I#4) – When the Royal Family returned to
Attilan,
Falcona, Leonus and Aireo stood with Maximus as he welcomed Black Bolt
and the
others home.
(Inhumans I#5) – Aireo was ordered to chain Black
Bolt to
the ceiling, where the ruler stayed for nine straight days.
(Inhumans I#6) – Escaping, Black Bolt destroyed
part of
Attilan with his voice. As he gave a speech through Medusa about taking
the
Inhumans into space, Maximus and the mind-controlled Inhumans including
Leonus, Timberius, Aireo, Falcona and Stallior, prepared to fire a
cannon on
the Royal Family but they were swiftly defeated.
(Marvel Fanfare I#14/2) – Aireo stole the Royal
Scepter,
knocking out its guardian Aven. For a time, the other Inhumans thought
Quicksilver
was the thief and they confronted him but Quicksilver soon exposed
Aireo as
the thief. Aireo tried destroying the Scepter in retaliation but
Quicksilver
saved it.
(New Warriors I#8 (fb) – BTS) –
Aireo left Attilan and
joined with the organization Project: Earth. They gave him the new
costumed
identity of Skybreaker and formed the team Force of Nature with members
Aqueduct, Firewall and Terraformer. Their leader, Omar Barrenos,
planned to use
the team to fight for nature, protecting the rainforests.
(New Warriors I#7) – Protecting a Project: Earth
plot in the
Brazilian rainforest, Force of Nature questioned and killed a man to
discover
the identities of arriving Americans, the New Warriors.
(New Warriors I#8) – The Force of Nature attacked
the New
Warriors in the Brazilian jungle, with Skybreaker pulling the air from
the lungs
of Namorita and Firestar. When the Warriors were restrained, they saw
Project:
Earth assemble (including Omar Barrenos, Li Muan Ho, Sasha Yamir,
Michael
Shauneghan and Madeline Naylor Baldwin, the mother of Speedball).
(New Warriors I#9) – Force of Nature was sent
against the
rainforest contractors and they focused on doing as much damage as
possible
to them. The New Warriors attacked, rescuing the contractors and taking
down
the Force. During the fight, Skybreaker toppled bulldozers, putting
civilians
in danger, and Speedball soon knocked out Skybreaker with a smash.
(New Warriors I#29 (fb) – BTS) – The Force of
Nature, with
new member Firebrand replacing Firewall, entered war-torn Trans-Sabal
to stop
the environmental havoc there, including massive oil well fires
ravaging the
country. They spent several weeks in conflict with the Trans-Sabal
army, led by
General Halladah (who piloted Mandroid armor), and the People's Armed
Front,
led by Araq Mezdbadah, trying to protect the interests of the
environment. Each
member of the Force of Nature ended up adopting a darker persona, using
their
powers in new deadly ways.
(New Warriors I#29 (fb) – Project: Earth asked the
New
Warriors (Firestar, Namorita, Nova, Rage, Silhouette, Speedball) to
intervene
in a civil war in Trans-Sabal to pull out the Force of Nature. The
Warriors
arrived as a battle between the Army and the Front was coming to a
head.
Halladah and Mezdbadah prepared to face off in a final struggle.
(New Warriors I#30 (fb)) – Aqueduct, by firing a
burst of
water, intentionally dehydrated Halladah, killing the general. During
the
conflict, Skybreaker attacked Speedball but Silhouette knocked him out
of the
air. The Force of Nature continued the fight in the country's capital
alongside the New Warriors until the young heroes chose to leave the
country.
(New Warriors I#36) – Imprisoned at the Vault,
Aqueduct, Terraformer
and Skybreaker aided the Wizard and Gargantua in a revolt against the
Guardsmen
to gain better rights for prisoners, such as Terraformer having a plant
with
him to survive. Fellow prisoner Marvel Boy (Vance Astrovik) helped the
revolt
die down.
(Avengers: The Initiative I#26 (fb) – BTS) – Force
of
Nature, with new recruit Sunstreak, was recruited by the corrupt Norman
Osborn's Initiative to be the
official sanctioned super hero team of Oregon.
(Avengers: The Initiative I#26) – The Force of
Nature was
revealed to the public, alongside other teams, including Psionex (for
Maryland), the U-Foes (of North Carolina) and the Women Warriors (of
Delaware). Norman Osborn fielded questions from reporters.
(Avengers: The Initiative I#28)
– When the Heavy Hitters
(Nonstop, Prodigy, Telemetry) in Nevada seceded from the Initiative,
Osborn sent
in the Force of Nature to straighten them up. Under Sunstreak's
leadership,
they attacked the Heavy Hitters on a rooftop. During the fight,
Skybreaker
scattered a news helicopter with a burst of air.
(Siege I#1) – The Force of Nature was sent by
Osborn, alongside other Initiative recruits and his dark Avengers, to
invade
Asgard over Broxton, Oklahoma. Skybreaker then participated in the
intense battle that followed.
Comments: Created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Joe Sinnott.
The "League of Evil Inhumans" was never officially
called
this on panel and it is unrevealed how much of Aireo's involvement on
the team
was due to Maximus the Mad taking mental control of him.
Aireo received a major
upgrade when he became Skybreaker and worked with Force of Nature,
showing
control of air, which he used in particularly savage ways.
