History:
(X-Men Unlimited I#3 (fb) - BTS) - Uchio Tanaka was once a highly skilled telepath who was employed by Lord Shingen of Clan Yashida, a mind-walker, as telepath's were called by the Clan.
(X-Men Unlimited I#3 (fb) - BTS) - Years later when the atomic bomb went off in Hiroshima, Uchio (presumably like other telepaths) was hit by the psychic backlash as he felt the deathcry of an entire city wash over him, destroying his mind. For his servitude Uchio was allowed to remain at the ancestral home of the Clan where they took care of him. In the years that followed, Uchio refrained from talking or using his telepathy.
(X-Men Unlimited I#3 - BTS) - To deal with his bloodlust Creed sought a telepath who, like his former partner Birdy, could help keep his personal demons under control. It was Garabed Bashur who informed Creed that Clan Yashida had one in their care. This came in handy as Sabretooth was on a killing spree, killing people who were part of an illicit trade operations with amongst others, Lord Shingen, who had since died and been replaced by his son Kenuichio Harada.
(X-Men Unlimited I#3) - Aware of Sabretooth's plan to hit Clan Yashida, the Silver Samurai had allied himself with Maverick and the X-Man Beast who protected Uchio. When Sabretooth arrived he was shocked to see the heroes as Bashur had told him to go there, feeling it was a set-up he quickly grabbed Uchio by the throat. Threatening the heroes to let the telepath give him the same glow as Birdy did to take the bloodlust away. Sensing the strong mind of Sabretooth, Uchio silently spoke for the first time in a long time just saying "the blood". Uchio continued to speak the same words, smelling the blood on Sabretooth's conscience after which he overloaded and telepathically linked the heroes to Sabretooth's mind, showing them glimpses of his past. When all of them awoke they found Uchio dead, his head exploded.
Comments: Created by Fabian Nicieza (writer), Mike McKone (penciler).
It was an X-Men comic and the guy was a telepath...he was probably a mutant.
