History:

(Mutant X#28 - BTS) - Wolverine was married to the Japanese Mariko Yashida with whom he had two children, Mari and Brian. The happy family lived in a small cabin in the Pacific Northwest.

(Mutant X#29 (fb) - BTS) - Wolverine and James Hudson were the best of friends.

(Mutant X#29 (fb) - BTS) - During his adventures, Wolverine met and became romantically involved with SHIELD agent Jean Grey, feeling their lives were destined to play out like Bogie and Bergman in Casablanca.

(Mutant X#28 (fb)) - Wolverine saved Jean Grey from a feral Sabretooth.

(Mutant X#3 (fb)) - Wolverine, Sabretooth and Wildchild became part of the Weapon X Project, developed during the Canadian/USA border conflicts. The three of them were elected to be Canada's elite troops, using the Super-Soldier Serum stolen from the United States.

(Mutant X#28 (fb)) - While being experimented on, the Weapon X Project noted all of their subjects had been declared dead for the outside world. Realizing Logan's family could become a problem one of the scientists threatened to have his family killed if he were to resist the conditioning any longer.

(Mutant X#3 (fb) - BTS) - Part of the Project, Wolverine's skeleton was laced with the malleable but indestructible metal known as adamantium which allowed his claws to slice through virtually any material.

(Mutant X#28 - BTS) - Learning of her husband's death, Mariko decided to stay in their home unwilling to return home in Japan.

(Mutant X#3 (fb)) - The scientists eventually lost control of their subjects who escaped into the wilderness and the area was cordoned off while conventional forces dealt with their military difficulties with the United States. Bonded by their previous experience and rendered amnesiac Wolverine, Sabretooth and Wildchild formed the Pack, living as a group of wild animals in the Saskatchewan wilderness.

(Mutant X#3 (fb) - BTS) - Known for their wild and unpredictable nature, the Pack was left alone in the Saskatchewan wilderness.

(Mutant X#3) - The feral Wolverine and the Pack came across the stranded mutant superhero group the Six who'd been shot out of the sky by the Canadian government for invading their airspace. The Pack went to investigate the crash site and since being feral and unpredictable took all of the Six except for their leader Havok captive. The Six's Brute even reverted to an even more feral version of himself and joined the Pack as they hunted Havok. When the Pack eventually caught up with Havok he fired a warning shot which accidentally uncovered the former Weapon X Project entrance. Sensing a part of their former self Wolverine and the Pack stopped their chase and tried to break into the complex when they stumbled upon a wall which appeared to be pure adamantium. With the little words Wolverine could still speak he asked Havok to help them break into the complex after which he focused his powers into a powerful beam which penetrated the adamantium wall, allowing the Pack to gain entrance to the abandoned Weapon X facility. Upon examining the facility the group was soon joined by the remaining members of the Six who decided to go and help Havok. Just then, Wolverine pressed a button which triggered a holographic playback of their time as part of Weapon X. Unable to deal with sudden flow of their forgotten memories, the Pack went berserk and even attacked Havok and the Six, the fight was halted by the arrival of the Guardian and Alpha Flight. The Guardian declared the Six was trespassing on Canadian government property and were in violation of the non-aggression treaty of Dublin and that they would place the Pack under arrest.

(Mutant X#12/2 - BTS) - When Alex Summers was rebuilding his hero team the Six, he looked at those he'd met before like Wolverine, nonetheless he wasn't recruited.

(Mutant X#20 - BTS) - While remembering what he'd experienced after ending up on Earth-1298, Alex Summers thought of Wolverine, Wildchild and Sabretooth who he met in Canada.

(Mutant X#29 (fb) - BTS) - Back in captivity it became clear that the Canadian government was eager to pick up the Weapon X Project again and turn it's superhuman citizens into Super Soldiers. As part of the process the Professor created a method in which the candidate's brain would be scrambled as to make them a perfect and loyal soldier. Unwilling to have his brain scrambled Wolverine managed to break free, whilst escaping he killed many of the project's soldiers and severely injured his former friend James Hudson, holding him responsible.

(Mutant X#28 (fb) - BTS) - Wolverine escaped his imprisonment and purely by instinct he was drawn to his former home in the Pacific Northwest. Wolverine, however, was chased by Sabretooth who'd been ordered to bring him back in. The order was given by James Hudson, who unbeknownst to Wolverine had survived the attack and had most of his body parts replaced by robotic ones.

(Mutant X#28) - While on the run from Sabretooth, Wolverine had made his way to the Pacific Northwest wilderness where he came across a hunting group lead by Lloyd who's dogs Simba and Jack were just killed by Sabretooth. Wolverine popped his claws and growled, making the hunters believe he was the one who killed the dogs ready to radio into the state troopers to get some helicopters out over the woods the hunters where then surprised by Sabretooth who slaughtered them like he'd slaughtered their dogs. Wolverine fled, and by nightfall reached his former home, although still unaware why he was being drawn to the place. Quietly forcing the door's lock, Wolverine made his way inside and raided the fridge in the kitchen when he was surprised by his young daughter Mari who'd woken up by the noise. Wolverine instantly popped his claws on the little girl but retracted them when the girl questioned if he were her father who'd died and gone to heaven. Suddenly flooded by several painful memories, Wolverine snapped out of it when he smelled Sabretooth. After ordering the girl to go back to bed he quickly left the house, still unsure where he even was. Not long after, Wolverine bumped into Sabretooth who revealed he was being royally payed to bring him back and with the added information Mariko was close by he'd had a hankering for her too. However, during their brawl a gasoline tank was hit which Wolverine set on fire, burning Sabretooth to the bone. Right after that Jean Grey and the Six arrived to help Wolverine as Grey had dreamed her former lover needed their help. Recognizing Jean, Wolverine put his claws away after which he fainted in her arms. Unbeknownst to Wolverine, Sabretooth had survived the attack and kidnapped Mariko and the children.

(Mutant X#29 - BTS) - Jean Grey and the Six took Wolverine back with them to the Castle, the base of operations for the Six. After regaining his strength Wolverine was provided a new black costume.

(Mutant X#29) - Having made a full recovery, his mind seemingly recovered as well. Wolverine was determined to get his life back and used the Six's computers to design and ran a new training program, using battle droids that could think for themselves. Meanwhile Jean Grey and Havok had received a special visitor in the form of James Hudson who revealed Sabretooth had kidnapped Wolverine's family. Grey decided it was best to tell Wolverine herself and met him on the training grounds where Wolverine explained that what had happened between the two of them should have never happened as he was eager to get his old life back. Before Grey got the chance to speak Hudson arrived himself. Seeing the man who was responsible for his imprisonment, Wolverine popped his claws and jumped the man, eager to kill him. Jean Grey, however, used his psionic bubble to trap Wolverine in mid-air so he would at least listen to what Hudson had to say. Learning Sabretooth had kidnapped his family he decided to join Havok, Grey and Hudson for a rescue mission.

Sometime later Wolverine, Havok and Grey arrived near the Canadian border. Wolverine decided to track Sabretooth on his own and went ahead, unaware Sabretooth was already close by and attacked Havok and Grey in his absence. When the night had fallen, Wolverine managed to find his children Mari and Brian but was soon met by Havok, warning the whole thing had been a set-up for Sabretooth to capture Grey. Determined to end the situation no matter what, Wolverine left his children in the care of Havok as he sought out Sabretooth who now held both Mariko and Grey. In a sadistic turn of events Sabretooth ordered Wolverine to choose who of the two women he would kill. Wolverine stood by as Sabretooth suddenly caught fire, just as he dropped the women it was revealed Havok was generating a low level plasma field to attack the mutant, Wolverine then jumped in and used his claws to decapitate Sabretooth, finally ending his threat. Reunited with the family who thought he was dead the group was in for another turn of unfortunate events as the Professor and Super Soldiers arrived in helicopters.

(Mutant X#30) - Close to the American border Wolverine and Havok discussed what to do next. Wolverine opted that he would stay behind to face the Super Soldiers while Havok and Grey would take his family to America, unaware the Six were fighting the Avengers on the Canadian border. Wolverine soon located one of the heavy armored Super Soldiers an attacked him only to realize Havok and Grey hadn't left at all. Together with the two mutants Wolverine eventually defeated the Super Soldier by killing him. Realizing they would never survive an entire platoon of Super Soldiers the group quickly made it's way to the border where they found both the Avengers and the Six unconscious while a shocked Captain America (who was a mutant member of the Six) sat amidst them. Captain America quickly admitted he was the cause after which the Professor and a platoon of Super Soldiers arrived. Unbeknownst to all of them Captain America's powers had accidentally disturbed the malevolent and sleeping Beyonder (secretly a shell filled by the Goblin Queen).

(Mutant X#31) - Faced with an entire platoon of Super Soldiers, Wolverine ordered the others to get his family to America while he would sacrifice himself. The group was then surprised when Captain America suddenly regained his strength while mumbling that they were enemies of the state and needed to destroy them. Captain America grew to a staggering size after which he easily killed the Professor he then set out to attack the platoon of Super Soldiers while Wolverine and the others used the opportunity to escape. Captain America, unable to fully control his powers even destroyed the Avengers! In the end it was Havok who killed Captain America, their struggle fully awakening the "Beyonder".

(Mutant X#31 - BTS) - Although leaving Havok at first, Wolverine and his family soon joined the Six on route to their base of operations where the group was "welcomed" by the vampire lord himself, Dracula.

(Mutant X Annual 2001) - Wolverine held his family back, protecting them while the Six attacked Dracula. Wolverine then told the Six that while he knew the team could use his help he had a family to think of, something which Bloodstorm wholeheartedly agreed to.
