(Billy the Marlin#1 (fb) - BTS) - Through unrevealed
means, Billy the Marlin developed a humanoid form and adapted to
breathing air through his gills on land. He became the mischievous
mascot and protector of the American baseball team the Florida Marlins.
(Billy the Marlin#1) -
Coincidentally on his birthday and prior to another Marlins game in
their home Miami stadium (attended by Peter Parker (secretly
Spider-Man), Mary Jane Watson and her aunt Anna Watson), Billy the
Marlin engaged in more antics. But Dr. Doom, accompanied by Doombots,
swooped in to kidnap baseball players, starting with Marlins' star
player Jeff Conine; Dr. Doom sought to create Latveria's own baseball
team and Conine was his first pick. Parker immediately went off and
changed into Spider-Man while Billy the Marlin heroically tried to stop
the Doombots kidnapping Conine. Unflappable, Billy the Marlin teamed up
with Spider-Man to bring down the Doombots and tackled Dr. Doom head
on. Billy squirted Dr. Doom in the face with his water gun and
Spider-Man webbed up the villain. With Doom vanquished, the game
continued. Afterward, Billy the Marlin joined the players as they
autographed memorabilia for their junior fans.
