History: (Howard the Duck IV#2 (fb) - BTS) - At some point, "Cable-squirrel" was acquired by the Elder of the Universe known as the Collector and imprisoned on one of his collection planets.
(Howard the Duck IV#2) - While escaping the Collector, Howard the Duck agreed to assist fellow captive Rocket Raccoon in retrieving an item on their way out and while following the map of the Collector's prison that had been shaved into Rocket's fur, the duo forced one of the Collector's guards to open all prisoner cells. "Cable-squirrel" then watched as his cell doors were opened and, as Howard the Duck, Rocket and Rocket's Guardians of the Galaxy teammates ran through the area, "Cable-squirrel" and several other escaping prisoners ran amuck. The heroes and the former prisoners eventually blew a hole through a nearby wall and the Guardians welcomed "Cable-squirrel" and the other former prisoners of the Collector onto their spaceship, C.I.T.T. C.I.T.T. soon reached capacity (with "Cable-squirrel" inside) and the Guardians were forced to leave a few of the prisoners behind as they departed with Howard the Duck and numerous other former prisoners.
Comments: Created by Chip Zdarsky, Joe Quinones and Joe Rivera.
"Cable-squirrel" appeared to be slightly smaller than an average Earth squirrel and earlier in the only issue he appeared in (Howard the Duck IV#2), Rocket mentions the Bothran race, which are "tinier versions of Earth squirrels" and "super dumb." Therefore, "Cable-squirrel" could be an Earth squirrel that had been experimented on or he could be a Bothran. We may never know...We also aren't given anything in regards to his origins. Since we see the Collector's goons experimenting on some of the collection, my guess is that he's either an Earth squirrel or Bothran that was experimented on by the Collector to resemble Earth's Cable...for whatever reason.
"Cable-squirrel"'s height and weight were impossible to approximate, as he was never seen directly next to a character whose height and weight had been officially determined.
I'd love to see a side story where "Cable-squirrel"
meets Weapon
II and the two have an adventure together against some sort of evil
X-character squirrel...
