CAPTAIN SCOTLAND
Real Name: Unrevealed
Identity/Class: Extradimensional/Alternate Reality (Earth-12443) human, Scottish citizen, probable magic mutate, probable power enhanced by costume (see comments)
Occupation: Protector of Britain (whatever it is called in his reality), Earth-12443, agent of the Corps
Group Membership: [Captain Britain] Corps (Captain Britain-616/Brian Braddock, others)
Affiliations: Meggan Braddock
Enemies: Riot
Known Relatives: None
Aliases: None
Base of Operations: Split between Starlight Citadel, Otherworld and Earth-12443
First Appearance: Secret Avengers I#22 (April 2012)
Powers/Abilities: Unrevealed; he likely has similar powers to the majority of Corps members, to whit: superhuman strength, flight, protective forcefield. However this is not guaranteed, as some Corps members have vastly different abilities. Again like his fellow Corpsman, he presumably is powered by interdimensional frictional energies focused in a matrix centered on the island of Great Britain (or whatever name it goes by in his reality).
Height: 5'5" (see comments)
Weight: 160 lbs. (see comments)
Eyes: Unrevealed
Hair: Blond
History:
(Secret Avengers I#22) -
Captain Scotland was in Otherworld's Starlight Citadel when Captain
Britain-616 returned from Earth-616 with a prisoner, Riot, for the
flying castle's Jigsaw Jails. Seeing the Corps' leader flying in with
the prisoner, Scotland jokingly asked if Britain had brought his fellow
Corpsmen a gift.
Comments: Created by Rick Remender and Gabriel Hardman.
Various places online have misidentified this guy as Captain
England. There's some similarity in appearances, with the red
cross, bulky build and beard, so you can see why people think it is him
in Secret Avengers. But the guy in Secret Avengers also differs in
appearance, with the blue elements of his costume that Captain England
lacks, as well as the very distinctive lion chest emblem. And we've got
to remember that many of the Corps look similar - costumes based to
varying degrees on the Union Flag, and many being alternate reality
counterparts to other members. Plus if you know your UK dialects you
know that "laddie" is more commonly associated with Scotland than any
English region. So just from the panel there is evidence to show he's
not Captain England. However, the clincher is the script for the issue,
which confirms him to be Scottish.
Though only seen in a single panel and behind
a table, we nevertheless can estimate his height as he is standing near
to Meggan Braddock. She's 5'7" normally, and is seen standing slightly
further away from the reader and despite this she's still taller than
Captain Scotland. As such, I've estimated him to be a short but stocky
5'5"; given his muscular build, for his weight I used the suggested
ideal for male bodybuilders of that height, which is 160 lbs.
