History:
(Punisher War Journal I#12 (fb) - BTS) - Unaware of
her mutant ability for artistic insight, Gretchen Carrenna created
sculptures that gained popularity. She shared a studio with several
other artists. Meanwhile, funded by the nefarious Marauders, the cyborg
assassin Bushwacker continued his "artistic" mission to murder mutants.
(Punisher War Journal I#12) - Bushwacker waited
impatiently outside Carrenna's studio, where she was being applauded
for her latest sculpture. Bushwacker broke in, killing patrons and
artists; one hid safely and witnessed Bushwacker's actions. The
assassin grabbed the petrified Carrenna and told her she was a mutant
before brutally impaling her on her own sculpture. Later that night,
news commentator Stan Winston reported on the murder and derided
Bushwacker as worse than the vigilante Punisher.
Comments: Created by Carl Potts, Jim Lee, Al Milgrom, Don Hudson.
You can really see Jim Lee's art development in the early issues of Punisher War Journal.
This was part of Marvel's wide "Acts of Vengeance" storyline with Punisher taking on Bushwacker in this title.
