DOUBLE TROUBLE
Membership: Two members (female identical twins, names
unrevealed) (Canadian citizens - see comments)
Identity/Class:
Human mutates (see comments)
Purpose: Contribute to missions of Weapon
P.R.I.M.E. (PRototype Induced Mutation Echelon)
Affiliations: General
Clarke, Department K, Weapon P.R.I.M.E. (Killspree (formerly
Killjoy), Tigerstryke, Yeti)
Enemies: Arcade, Domino, Grizzly (Theodore
Winchester), Hammer, Northstar
Base of Operations: Mobile internationally
First Appearance: X-Force I#22 (May, 1993)
Powers/Abilities:
The identical twins share identical powers. They are symbiotic plasma
chargers who can shoot bio-plasma blasts via a hand so long as their
other hand is tethered by bio-energy to her sibling; this leash can be
stretched to about 6' and proximity does not appear to affect the
intensity of their blasts. Any break in this tether while readying a
blasting charge will create explosive feedback for the twins. They have
limited flight ability, being able to hover with
limited movement via mental control. They are athletically fit, but
appear to rely on their powers when fighting.
Height: 5'9" (each, by approximation)
Weight: 155 lbs. (each, by approximation)
Eyes: White
Hair: Blond (dyed?)
History:
(X-Force I#22 (fb) - BTS) - Armor-suited Tigerstryke was tasked
with leading a new team of Weapon P.R.I.M.E. for Canada comprising the energy-tethered twins Double
Trouble, armored slasher Killjoy and the furry powerhouse Yeti.
(X-Force I#22) - Domino and Grizzly were covertly seeking data on
the missing Cable. They were guided remotely
by Hammer and broke into the Department K complex in Newfoundland, Canada, where
they were confronted by Weapon P.R.I.M.E.
(X-Force I#23) - Weapon P.R.I.M.E. attacked the intruders, but Domino and Grizzly escaped via a sewer duct to their jet.
(Northstar#1) - Department K's General Clarke was
ordered to take
former Alpha Flight hero Northstar (Jean-Paul Beaubier) out of public
view due to his troubled political past, abrasive behavior and newly
out gay status. Clarke ordered Weapon P.R.I.M.E. to take care of it.
The team waited
near Beaubier's house and mistakenly attacked departing friend Raul
instead with Double Trouble blasting the car, severely injuring him.
They next attacked Beaubier's house,
but he had already left after receiving a warning from Guardian
(Heather Hudson), who had also profiled the team's members for him.
Weapon P.R.I.M.E. eventually caught up with Northstar, but he countered
the team's
assault; Northstar specifically tossed Killspree (formerly Killjoy) at
Double Trouble's energy tether, which caused explosive feedback that
knocked Killspree and Double Trouble out. Northstar zoomed away, caught
up in an elaborate plot by assassin Arcade, leaving a defeated
strikeforce behind.
(Northstar#3)
- Weapon P.R.I.M.E. tracked Northstar
to Zuyevo, Russia, where the hero was frantically fighting off circus
performers and an audience being mind-controlled by Arcade; the
civilians began attacking Weapon P.R.I.M.E. as well, and the twins were
unable to generate an energy tether or hover away. Northstar helped
Tigerstryke destroy Arcade's energy source and the Russians regained
their senses, but
Northstar again shot away.
(Northstar#4) - Tigerstryke tracked Northstar to New
Orleans and advised his P.R.I.M.E. teammates that he was about to
tackle the airborne Northstar (although Guardian
stopped Tigerstryke and advised him flexibility if he planned to lead Alpha Flight's replacement
team).
Comments: Created by Fabian Nicieza, Greg Capullo, Kevin Conrad, Harry Candelario.
They're probably Canadian citizens as members of Canada's super-team connected with Department K.
I class them as mutates due to their membership of a group with "PRototype Induced Mutation" in its name.
Northstar's battle with Weapon P.R.I.M.E. is shown in
a one-panel flashback in Northstar#2.
