History:
(Fantastic Four: Life Story#3) - In 1984, during a presentation with Pres. Ronald Reagan by Dr. Reed Richards and Tony Stark regarding their Strategic Defense Initiative, Edward was asked by the President of his opinion on the defense proposal. Edward supposed that they could toss some research money into the project and suggested adding some particle beams. He then followed up by asking if the defenses were pointed in the wrong direction in the proposal, commenting that the United States' biggest security threat was the Soviet Union not the coming of the cosmic Galactus. Richards insisted that Galactus was an existential threat to all of humanity and Edward responded by saying that while they liked Richards' weapon, they would like to point it at a different enemy. As Edward and Reagan watched, Richards exclaimed that they were wasting what little time they had left and stormed out of the room. Later, in 1986, Edward was present when Dr. Jose Santini (secretly a disguised Mad Thinker) announced that Reagan's Star Wars Missile Defense System (co-opted from Dr. Reed Richards' Strategic Defense Initiative) was operational.
