History: (Edge of Spider-Geddon#1) - The time-traveling Kang the Conglomerator traveled back in time to the modern era of Earth-138, where he announced his plans to own Earth-138's Spider-Man since he already owned his likeness rights in the future of Earth-34295. When Spider-Man-138 asked what army Kang planned to use to accomplish this goal, Kang summoned forth a small army of semi-sentient Spider-Man robots that resembled plush toys. Emerging from a portal spouting generic punk-themed catchphrases such as "Anarchy!," "Fight the Power!" and "Punk's Not Dead!," the robots immediately swarmed Spider-Man. As Kang gloated that, on Earth-34295, Spider-Man's cause was to increase the profits of Kangco, Ltd., an angry Spider-Man mustered enough strength to pull himself out of the swarm of Spider-Man robots and web-swing away. Kang immediately ordered the robots to pursue the escaping hero and the robots ran after Spider-Man, exclaiming "Capitalism Rules!" as they did so. The robots soon caught up to Spider-Man, who was now working with Captain Anarchy against the Negative Zone's Annihilation Wave, and the robots leaped into the fray, causing the Annihilation Wave to fight back. While the robots fought the Annihilation Wave, Spider-Man asked for a tape from Captain Anarchy to use against Kang but before Captain Anarchy could hand over the tape, one of the robots got  knocked into Captain Anarchy, who dropped the tape. One of the Annihilation Wave then ate the tape but Spider-Man wrestled the tape from the insectoid's mouth as Kang caught up to his robots. Kang then decided to take matters into his own hands and attempted to blast Spider-Man while the robots continued on with their fight against the Annihilation Wave. Spider-Man ultimately escaped again and enlisted the aid of Earth-138's Hulk, who quickly trounced Kang and the robots seemingly disappeared into the timestream alongside the defeated Kang.

Comments: Created by Jed McKay and Gerardo Sandoval.

While some might argue that these Spider-Man creatures were mutates, I tend to think of them more as automatons created by Kang, as their speech balloons had that robotic look to them, suggesting that at least their voices were robotic. Since Kang the Conglomerator was all about merchandising, they were probably some sort of talking animatronic toy not unlike the 1980s' Teddy Ruxpin. If you ask me, they resembled the real life plush Tsum Tsum toys.
