History:
(Fantastic Four I#207) - When the hypnotized hero Human Torch and a group of hypnotized college students stormed a US Army base, George ran out into action alongside Sarge and other soldiers, witnessing Spider-Man's arrival on the scene as well. George exclaimed that Spider-Man must be with the attacking Torch but another soldier insisted Spider-Man had saved the soldier Frank. George argued back that Spider-Man was wanted by the police but the other soldier reminded George that Spider-Man was cleared of all charges, asking if his fellow soldiers ever read the papers. Sarge interrupted George and the other soldier's argument, warning them to "can the chatter" since the Human Torch appeared to be coming back around for a second run. George quickly focused his attention on the Torch, who easily melted George's rifle. George reported the rifle melting to Sarge, who proved unable to answer due to being overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of hypnotized college students. After the Torch and college students departed, their mission successful, Spider-Man stayed behind to check on the fallen George and his fellow US Army soldiers. Picking up George and another soldier, Spider-Man got the two soldiers to safety despite questions as to what the hero was doing. Setting George and his fellow soldier down, Spider-Man went back to retrieve Sarge and Frank. When Spider-Man returned moments after saving Sarge and Frank from an explosion, an angry George pulled a gun on Spider-Man, accusing the hero of being behind the base attack. Calling George a jerk, Spider-Man webbed up the gun and swung off, suggesting George take a cold shower and cancel his subscription to the Daily Bugle, as they were only ones still after Spider-Man.

CLARIFICATIONS:
George
should be distinguished from:

Arnie

Arnie was a US Army soldier stationed at the base attacked by the hypnotized Human Torch and a group of college students. One of the first to arrive on the scene, Arnie was overrun by the college students but was relieved upon seeing the normally heroic Human Torch. Shocked when the Torch instead attacked him, Arnie yelled for reinforcements, suggesting they call the National Guard, as they were in trouble if the Human Torch was after them.

Frank

Frank was another US Army soldier who arrived to help defend his Army base from the hypnotized Human Torch and a group of college students. Frank ran out into the battle and was nearly flash-fried by the Human Torch until the arriving Spider-Man pulled Frank away from the blast with a well-timed webline. Thinking he was being attacked, Frank called for George and exclaimed that they now had two superheroes after them. George arrived and announced that Spider-Man was with the Torch but another soldier reminded George that Frank had just been saved by Spider-Man. The soldiers were soon overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of college students and after the Torch and his allies fled, their mission successful, Spider-Man returned to pull the downed Frank and Sarge to safety.

Sarge

Sarge was a US Army sergeant who helped direct other soldiers as the hypnotized Human Torch and a group of college students stormed their base. Upon arrival, Sarge broke up an argument between George and another soldier over whose side Spider-Man was on and ordered his men to focus on the incoming Human Torch. George's gun was quickly melted by the Human Torch and he called for Sarge but Sarge was unable to assist as he became overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of college students. Once the Torch and the college students left, their mission successful, Spider-Man went back into the battlefield and retrieved the downed Sarge and Frank.
