History:
(Fantastic Four I#166) - Joe was piloting a 747 passenger jet that
happened to have the Fantastic Four as guests as the heroes traveled
towards the American midwest in search of the Hulk. When a leaping Hulk
subsequently hit the jet's wing, Joe frantically tried to pilot the jet
out of a tailspin. The Fantastic Four quickly went into action to save
the jet and its passengers, slowing the jet's descent down to a landing
on a local road. As the jet neared the ground, Joe's co-pilot asked Joe
if they were going to make the landing and a sweating Joe replied that
he had no idea, commenting that their descent had slowed but the jet
was still coming in too fast. He further warned about the jet hitting
the slightest curve in the road before they could brake but the
Fantastic Four managed to safely land the jet.
Comments: Created by Roy Thomas, George Perez
and Vince Colletta.
Joe's eye color was impossible to
determine, as the only image of him depicts his eyes as nothing more
than black dots. For some reason, I imagine him having blue eyes.

Charlie
Charlie was a hippie who happened to be driving down
the road with his friend when the 747 jet piloted by Joe was forced
into an emergency landing right behind them. The Human Torch signaled
Charlie and his friend to pull away but Charlie missed the signal. When
his friend looked behind them and saw the incoming jet, his friend
ordered Charlie to pull off onto a side road. Charlie immediately asked
why but his frantic friend exclaimed for Charlie to just do as ordered,
as he didn't time to explain.
Junior
Junior was a young boy passenger of the 747 jet piloted
by Joe. Junior accompanied a woman who appeared to be his mother as
they relaxed in the jet's lounge area. When a man named Ralph (possibly
the woman's husband?) began getting romantic with the woman, the
Fantastic Four's Thing got involved and began manhandling Ralph in
front of Junior. The woman quickly ordered the Thing to leave Ralph
alone and ushered both Ralph and Junior out of the lounge area and away
from the Thing.
Ralph
Ralph was one of the passengers on the 747 jet flown by
Joe. Ralph got quite romantic with a female passenger (possibly his
wife?), prompting the Fantastic Four's Thing to tell Ralph to go
elsewhere. Lifting Ralph up with a single finger, the Thing suggested
Ralph might be a spy and warned what he could do to Ralph if Ralph was
indeed a spy. Thing's manhandling of Ralph was soon stopped when
Ralph's romantic interest ordered the Thing to leave Ralph alone. The
woman then suggested both Ralph and the young boy Junior accompany her
out of the jet's lounge area.
